Now that you mention it, I am willing to bet most people don't compare all the opening credits to all the end credits. I know I don't...unless the end credits are in order of appearance or alphabetical order. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | When I am doing a profile I always put the opening credits first. If this a DVD that already has most of the data, I move the Cast and Crew to match the opening credits.
Then, I go to the end credits and change the Cast and Crew as needed. I'm not really comparing, and more often than not the credits were already correct, but this way I know everyone is listed.
As far as a rule change, I agree that TV and Film should have specific rules specific to their needs. |

It would be interesting to know how other people do it, so I might just start a poll. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. As far as a rule change, I agree that TV and Film should have specific rules specific to their needs. This is basically the way I do it as well... Add all from beginning... and then rearrange/add from end. to make it match the end credits... this way if any is left at the bottom from the opening credits I move them to the top per Rules. So for me easier would be to leave at the bottom. But I am fine moving them to the top. But to go further and say well this person was listed in such order so should be between actor X and Actor Y. That is making it much more difficult. I for one would be completely against having Opening Credits divider and End Credits divider... as I do not want to have several actors listed twice in the majority of movies I own. | | | Pete |

It would be interesting to know how other people do it, so I might just start a poll. In a fairly recent contribution which I did this way I turned out missing some main cast which was in the opening credits only (as was fortunately pointed out to me in a subsequent contribution by a fellow user which corrected my mistake). So you can't take it for granted that all cast is always listed in the end credits, even in films. BTW: shouldn't this discussion be in the Contribution Rules Committee? AFAIK this forum is for discussing contributions based on the rules as they are now. |

That's how I do it. A simple new rule would be: Use the opening credits first, and then the end credits, but don't repeat any cast that has already been listed. All in listed order. Works for films and TV-series, and usually gets top billing correct even if the main list is alphabetical/order of appearance. | | | Hans |

That would, however, make a mess of any alphabetical/order of appearance cast list... |

| Posted: | | | | Agree... plus there is times when someone is credited more then once... with a different role name. With a rule such as that it can be argued you can only list them once.
The more I think about this... the more I think the rule as it is now is right. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

I only go back to the opening credits for cast, if I miss a top billed actor in the end credits which I know should be there. Otherwise I assume that the end credits is all I have to look for cast. |

I still don't get it, why the rules forum should not be open to everybody. Fortunately the days of the secret rules committee are over. |

Those, who don't care, will not read it anyway. And trouble makers should be excluded from all forums. |
