It sounds like you'd be fine doing this. But generally speaking, people should be careful here. If you delete an account off your PS3 that was used to purchase and download content, that content goes away. On our old PS3, the kids deleted my account since I never used it. Then all the games we had downloaded stopped working.
So, changing your password is a good idea. But if you've purchased things, you may want to be careful about starting with a whole new account. Unfortunately changing the login name is still now possible on PSN. You log on with your e-mail address and it is that what makes your account unique and cannot be modified. However, once PSN goes online again (sometime next week, they hope) everyone will be required to change the password. Furthermore, everyone is highly recommended to check whether they use the same username/password combination anywhere else and if so, change those as well. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. I don't see it getting any better for Sony. And possibly dare i say it the end of the Playstation brand at the end of the PS3's console life. That's utter rubbish in both cases. End of line! | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. | | | Last edited: by mreeder50 |

They have sold every console at a loss. There first party titles have failed to sell as much as they should. There 3rd party titles don't sell as well ether. So there not making money back from software. This latest incident with PSN is set to cost them an estimated 24 billion. Your telling me against that backdrop Sony are going to want to put money into another console? If you ask me there going to watch and wait and see what Nintendo does and if there next console sells well in world wide more importantly the European market. Then i think Sony will become a software only company. |

Then i think Sony will become a software only company. Sony's always sold console at a loss (as is Microsoft btw). Although right now they aren't any more. Only Nintendo always makes a profit from the start. Which is natural considering their consoles are technically less advanced than either the XBox 360 and the PS3. Now according to some data Sony's actually surpassed the XBox 360 in installed base, only in the USA and the UK the Xbox is still selling better. I think the more logical step is for Sony to start asking money for the online experience as is Microsoft in which case we should really thank Anonymous for sticking up for the consumer! The idiots! Paul Not true in America Europe yes Sony has taken the place that Sega once held in Europe World wide it adds up to pretty much a 50/50 split between the two core consoles. But as Nintendo have stated they wish to compete in the core market again. Simply put the market is not there for 3 core consoles. Sony needs Europe to justify the investment in a new console. And if Nintendo get a hold in Europe by say 20 million, it's game over for Sony and Playstation. America and Japan will embrace a core Nintendo console given the history of the brand in both regions. So you can almost be sure Sony will lose out big in those markets, with any Nintendo console aimed at the core. |

| Posted: | | | | Here you see an article which mentions Sony's PS3 outselling the X360 on a worldwide base. About the new Nintendo console, we don't know anything about it yet. The Wii sold this good because of the casual gamer who, as we see in the game to console ratio, don't use it a lot except to play Wii Sports and Mario Kart, combine this with the fact that almost all third-party games fail on the Wii and the fact the 'hardcore' gamer feels left behind it remains to be seen if Nintendo can recapture the hardcore audience. This of course also means that a several big third-party developers have stated they don't see it's worthwhile to develop for the Wii, these developers would have to be persuaded to come back. If, by trying to retake the hardcore market, they lose the casual market again, and from the rumors they'll revert back to a traditional controller so this may happen, than they have problems as well. Another hurdle for Nintendo would be online game-play. Now, with the focus of almost all developers on online game-play as well as Nintendo's failure to start up a decent online component they'll need to focus a lot of work on there as well. And seeing they failed this aspect on the 3DS again that also remains to be seen. That we have the fact that, according to rumors, the console is either somewhere between an X360 and the PS3 or a little better that the PS3 this would not really posses a leap which will encite hardcore gamer back to Nintendo. Again, there is not enough know to make that conclusion. We all agree this PSN debacle iisn't good, and i think we all hope they catch and severely punish those responsible but to say Sony will bow out? I doubt it with! The last 2 years the Playstation division has been profitable and with not a new console in sight there is to much unknown to make claims like that. So, i think Sony will start by rebuilding PSN, probably add some features much requested (rumors mention cross-game chat and in-game video chat) and eventually will start charging for online gaming. Of course, this is all speculation and until e# when Nintendo will reveal their new console that is all we can do Paul |

Paul The casual market does not hold the same longevity. They adopted that approach to make the kind of money they need to compete with Sony and Microsoft. 3rd party developers have there kits for the new console. And it's pretty much confirmed as being more powerful than Xbox360 and PS3. I still don't believe the PS3 is profitable no matter what Sony say. And if it took 35 million sales to get the console to the point of where it was profitable. Then they have to sell that if not more next gen to start making a profit again. Which i don't think they will be able to if Nintendo is aiming for the core again. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

| Posted: | | | | That's what i'm saying! If Nintendo losses the Casual market, which it may, considering that a lot of people almost never use their Wii and thus probably aren't interested in a new console, especially if it could end up costing $350-400.
And with the loss of hardcore gamers the Wii caused it may be hard for Nintendo to get back, but again, we don't know any thing yet so we''ll have to wait at least till E3,
but with the 3DS also not selling as much as Nintendo claimed it would i wouldn't be sure they could claim the same sales for their next console! |

I've seen a demo model in action at my local Target store and I wasn't impressed to say the least. Unless you're staring directly, and I mean DIRECTLY at the screen, the image becomes distorted. Anything off perpendicular to the screen and the image disapears. I don't know of too many gamers that can hold their head perfectly perpendicular to the screen while they're playing an action game...I know I can't . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

I couldn't agree more, than there is also the fact that there is a percentage of 10-20% who can't see the 3D effect at all. Also, i think the DSi sold very good last Christmas so why would people replace their recently purchased product? I consider myself be an pretty hardcore gamer, i bought most recent consoles the first day, PS2, PS3, XBox, XBox 360 and GC, while also importing a US PSP which was released earlier, but i haven't made the plunge to the 3DS because A. handheld gaming isn't something i do to begin with, i'm not commuting to work so there isn't really time to play, and B. more importantly, there aren't any good games yet. When Sony releases the NGP (hopefully) this year i'll probably buy it day one if only for Uncharted and Killzone, Paul |

Not really you stick a demo on at E3 of Star Fox for there next console. Given it's mostly set in space and how amazing Blu-Ray is at handling blacks it will leave jaws on the floor. So it's ripe to be the leading first party title at launch. Coupled with the biggest third party developers saying how brilliant there demonstrations where. As Nintendo have already been showing off the tec to them. And continue selling the Wii at a low price till the console hit's a price point where they can drop the Wii. Just one scenario i see. I have yet to think of a way this could go bad for Nintendo. And yes the 3DS i thought would be flop. So im not surprised. |

| Posted: | | | | The reason why i thought the 3DS would be flop is it is not a serious handheld. It's cheap way of Nintendo testing how much appetite gamers have for 3D.
Also it would not surprise me if they call there next console NES-HD. Connecting with it's past and the multi media of consoles of today simultaneously. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |
