| Posted: | | | | Crap! I hadn't even thought about 0.
So I need 0, 6 & 7.
PS: Thanks, VibroCount! Shall look into those. Another set I really want is The Movies Begin: A Treasure of Early Cinema, which would take my collection back as far as 1894. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | I have The Movies Begin collection... I count it as 1877... to quote the cover of the box:
"... This survey of the cinema's earliest landmarks and rarities features the 1877 motion studies of Edward Muybridge..."
These were motion studies stills that were (using 20th century technology) easily converted to films... think of people walking, horses walking/galloping... the stuff which showed animators how to create a series of still images which, frame by frame, would create motion. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | You bringing up 7th Voyage of Sinbad was brilliant! I hadn't thought about films in box sets, because I have that one in the Ray Harryhausen set, as well as The 7th Victim in the Val Lewton set.
So that would mean I only need 0 & 6. Yay!
I was looking at The Movies Begin, and overview for the 1st the inner box says "An animated rendering of Eadweard Muybridge's primitive motion studies (1877-85) begins the program" Do you think the word rendering is the reason that it's listed in the db as 1894? Because otherwise you're right, it should be listed as 1877. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

Because otherwise you're right, it should be listed as 1877. The Muybridge set was not a "film" until the 20th century. In 1877, by using mutltiple cameras & flashing lights, he captured still photos of people and animals in motion... walking, running, etc. where the viewer can see each step and often foot and hand placement between steps. again these were not films. But they helped lead to motion pictures, and can still be used by animators to understand turning single poses into movement. So the first film made as a film in the box set was made in 1894, but there is a film made later from his motion studies of 1877. I altered the production year on the individual DVD and the box set to 1877, because I have another set with the earliest film from 1894. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | I am missing titles starting with "0" and "5", got all 26 English alphabet letters covered as well as Norwegian letter "Å", but I am missing the Norwegian letters "Æ" and "Ø".
As for years, I have one movie from 1911, then a gap until 1919, then movies from all years up until 2011, except for 1924. |

| Posted: | | | | I am missing 0 and 6, although I have all James Bond DVD/BDs filed under 007 (locally!). I have Danish/Norwegian "Ø" (oe) and "Å" (aa) but have to use Æon Flux to qualify for "Æ" (ae). Thereby the tree extra characters in our alphabet. Swedish (and German) "Ä": Änglagård (English title: "House of Angels"). (ÆØÅÄ might not show up right everywhere?) And I have the Greek letter "p" (pi) by accepting the symbolic pi as the character pi Most: "Database plugin" reveals "S" counts for 11 % ! ( >250 profiles), I received "Salt" by mail today Edit: to Behemot: "Øyenstikker" ("Dragonfly") is my only "Ø" | | | Karsten | | | Last edited: by karstenp |

| Posted: | | | | All letters covered; only one "Z" and four "Q"s.
No titles starting with "0" or "5", although I do have two titles starting with "Five" (Five Easy Pieces & Five Pennies). And I do have the four 007 James Bond Ultimate Collections, but I have them under "James Bond" and not "007". | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | Missing 0, 6-9. Have all the alphabet; U was my hardest letter to fulfill.
For production years, I start at 1891 (I have the Edison: The invention of Movies box set which covers many of the early 1900's) and am missing a lot in the early years. 1915-17, 1920-21, 1924-31, 34-35, 43-45, 52, 58. After that, I have everything up to 2010. I may have something for 52 or 58...I have an Ozzie and Harriet dvd, but haven't had a chance to profile it yet, so not sure when the earliest date for it is.
For me, when I first looked at seeing if I had every letter of the alphabet, I was only missing U. Took me ages to find it. I've looked at what I was missing for production years but the years I'm missing are the hardest for me to find movies/shows I want to watch and own. Disney helps out a lot for the 30's and 40's though! | | | Lori |

| Posted: | | | | Missing 0 and 4 but have everything else covered... well, in profiles at least, not necessarily movies.
I do have "Four" though (Brothers, Weddings &..., Musketeers)... I suppose I should get 48 Hours!
Just FYI on the numbers and the apparently more tricky letters, some examples:
14 Blades 28 Days Later 3 Days of the Condor (3 on the cover though Original Title is 'Three...'; I have 300 as well though) 55 Degrees North (TV) 633 Squadron 7th Voyage of Sinbad 88 Minutes 9th Company Q: The Flying Serpent (Quantum of Solace, Quatermass (all 3), The Queen, Quick and the Dead) Yangtse Incident (and both Young Guns) Zack and Miri Make a Porno (and Zombie Strippers, Zu Warriors..., and Zulu Dawn) | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
