I just finished adding the current Filmfare awards (Indian Oscar) to the data for my awards plugin, and I have to admit, that I am way more curious checking out some of the nominees there, than I am about the movies nominated for the Oscars. I even had some of the movies already on my wishlist and now my wishlist has grown even more.

Sounds pretty cool! Dont know if i have anything from that side of the world. You got any good ideas for what to get? If you have any good one's in your collection, or any you just have seen in the awards?

Thanks

Depends if you like musical numbers in your movies or not.
If not, then there still a few which I can recommend:
- "Black": I have recommended this one to multiple people and all of them who bought it enjoyed it. I even have given it as a birthday present.
- "My Name Is Khan
- and more

To my all time favorites belong: "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", "Krrish", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", "Veer-Zara"

From the recent nominations, the following are on my wishlist:

"Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" has a lot of music in it, which I think is great. It's a modern Indian classic with an all-star cast.
"Kal Ho Naa Ho" is also good.
"Lakshya" was also a surprise for me. It very well integrated music numbers into a war movie.

If you enjoyed "Memento", I definately recommend the Indian take on it: "Ghajini"
Though don't expect the non-linear story-telling from Memento. It tells the story more linear, and also has a lot of flashbacks to the time before the accident where the protagonist lost his memory.

If you want to see an Indian superhero movie, then you should check out "Krrish".

I would be interested to hear your thoughts when you have watched them.
There is a forum I can recommend where you can do it

I see in your profiles under interests that you like sports. If you also like sports movies, I can recommend "Chak De! India" from the above recommendations.

So what do you guys think about the Oscars yesterday?

I watched it live on TV (which means 2 to 5 AM around here), the show had the charm of a press conference where businessmen read out the annual results.

What I liked about the show was Cirque du Soleil, Rooney Mara, Emma Stone, Bérénice Bejo, and
the popcorn serving women.

I got the creeps from Angelina Jolie's leg.

Happy with all that won? Or was there some that didnt win, that you wanted to see win?

I don't care about wins, the only movie I've seen so far from the Best Pictures is The Tree of Life and I kind of liked it, I think The Artist is original, must see for me, I'll also watch The Descendants and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, I have a mild interest in Hugo but already know that I won't like it, little interest in The Help, no interest in Moneyball, Midnight in Paris, War Horse.

From other categories I have already seen Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Rango. I'll watch The Muppets, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Adventures of Tintin, Real Steel, Drive.

I'd like to see all the Feature Documentaries but probably won't.

Yeah, that's an interesting ranking. I haven't yet seen any of the BP nominees, but my interests would be nearly the opposite:

Want to see: War Horse, Midnight in Paris, Hugo, The Artist
No interest: Moneyball, Descendants, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Tree of Life, The Help

I had trouble keeping up with Tree of Life .. ( found it unusually long  and boring) ,, Loved Midnight Paris .., Moneyball was good for story and acting .,, Haven't  seen Hugo  but it is on my 'Buy list'  as it looks very much like Polar Express  (and I loved The Polar Express.) . War Horse looks to me to be a piece of americana ..,

also Looking forward to Decendants and ELIClose  as well ....

I own and watched:
The Help
Hugo
Midnight in Paris
Moneyball
Warrior
Bridesmaids
The Ides of March
Drive

Have on order
The Descendants
The Artist
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Iron Lady

The rest I'll have to investigate.

Hugo arrived yesterday and I watched  and enjoyed it and I'll watch it again.
The kid that played Hugo has a future in films, the great chemistry between the children.
Great film to watch on HD, like so many films of the past I just have to double dip to see them in the Blu_ray.
The extras were above average and informative.

Anxious to see how the following stack up against their books and previous versions:
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The Iron Lady a most have, have 40 Meryl Streep films, love to watch her work.
Meryl S, Glen C, Helen M, and Judy D. great grand dames of film, love their work,
they make any film worth watching..

I thought Moneyball was one of the better films of recent history. Also my friends enjoyed.

THX for the Indian film list, I don't have as many of them as I would like. So much to see, so little time.
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.
