I think everyone should move the discussion on when/how to use the CLT to another thread... SampleAndy should be commended on his attention to detail and desire to follow the rules and make an awesome contribution to the database

Well said.

TheMad, I'd expected that the official profile should be exactly as shown on the screen, but wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Pantheon, I have the first four seasons of BBC BH. I'm thinking that you showed a different season than what I'm trying to enter, since most the information is different, or just doesn't exist. I've sent you a PM of the text from the closing credits. Sorry about the jumble, but the message box stripped out all my careful formatting. If there's a way I could send you the actual file (a simple Notepad document) it would be easier to read. This is a result of pause, type, check, advance, repeat, etc., etc., etc.

Unfortunately, since I've misplaced the entire set, the whole project is on a temporary hold. I'll try to do an exhaustive search tonight when I get home.

Well, I submitted the profile, with no crew information for discs 2 and 3. I'm still trying to find out if values that are used in the closing credits have equivalences in the permitted types.

If you've got the time to take a look at it, constructive criticism would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all your help, and all YOUR contributions.

Thanks to Rizor, I withdrew my "contribution" :-)

Seems I didn't know to check off all the things I wanted to contribute. d'oh!

I'll give it a second shot this evening. Thanks again to everyone.

If it is a brand new contribution nobody will be able to see it (except the screeners) until they approve and release it. After that if you post the EAN/UPC here we can have a look, but by the sounds of it you are doing a great job

(sigh)

yeah, it's me again. I found the section on Credits in the rules, and slowly, patiently read the roles and equivalences this time, instead of just the text at the top. First reaction? This is GREAT!!! This is exactly what I was looking for... Second reaction? hmmm... The profile I'm working on has Vickie Lang as Make-up Artist, but it also has Tanya Lodge as Hair and Make-Up Designer, which according to the table should be credited as Make-up Artist. So are there now TWO Make-up Artists? Liza Bracey is credited as Costume Designer, but Clementine Charity is the Costume Supervisor. Are there now two Costume Designers? Or do we only use the equivalences if there is no direct match?

and the reason I was looking there in the first place I didn't find an answer... Billy Mahoney Jr (no comma, no period) is a Sound Editor on one of six episodes. Billy? First Name, Mahoney? Last Name. Jr???

Just to keep it interesting, Billy Mahoney is the Dubbing Mixer for all six episodes, so he gets credited as Sound Re-recording Mixer.

Help? Please?

There is no limit to how many times a crew position can be credited, we follow the credits.

Yes, those are both Make-Up Artists, and both Costume Designers; although some will say the Costume Supervisor should not get credited when there is a Costume Designer, but the rules do not make that distinction.

Thanks to all for reading and for your patience. We're getting closer to final submissions here, with your help. Of course it's taken so long, the profiles have changed to updates instead of original submissions.

The two profiles I'm working on both say ASPECT RATIO: 16.9 Enhanced... only that's not a ratio. In Profiler, there's a Enhanced checkbox, but there are still ratios below. One of the profiles was marked 1.78:1, but how do you determine what it should be? I don't trust Amazon for that information. Is there a recognized source for that info someplace?

Each of the profiles have child profiles, 3 for one and 2 for the other. I've copied the cast & crew information from the children into the parent in each case. The covers are the same for parent and child. The features are marked only on the appropriate disc. The general information is blank in the children, only filled out for the parent. The disc IDs are contained in both the child profiles and the parents, and the children are identified as members of the Box Set Contents. Will that take care of establishing the parent/child relationship in the database or is there something else that will need to be done?

Can a child belong to more than one parent? Not in these cases, but I recently got Columbo: The Complete Series. I found that the discs of Season One (at least) were just repackaged discs from the last release. Season Two are now single sided discs where they used to be flippers, so they are new. IF there is no profile for the series when I finish it, will there be problems with children belonging to more than one parent?

1.78 is 16:9, if it's a blu-ray leave it unchecked.  If it is a DVD then are the black bars coded into the image?  Non-anamorphic discs viewed normally on 16:9 display will have black bars all around it, on the sides, and on the top or bottom.  TVs, receivers, players all have zoom functions, but the affects the quality.  If it is a recent DVD and has widescreen content than more than likely it is enhanced.

There isn't a problem submitting children to multiple parents.  But you must not change any of the data, it has to remain the same as the one first contributed.  You can change it locally.

Having dealt with numerous BBC releases, and considering this is also available in HD on Blu-ray, I can guarantee this title was shot in 1.78:1 and 16x9 enhanced. If you play it on a widescreen tv, it should fill up the entire display area without any black bars on the tops or sides.

For the children profiles, you need to contribute them so they're in the database. And then make sure each child profile is listed in the "box set contents" of the parent profile. Submit a new contribution for the parent profile with the box set contents and they should be linked in a week's time.

You can alway customize the roles, check Make-Up Artist and compile the custom role with Hair and Make-Up Designer, and so on. Your local database will show the customized roles.
