Such biting wit. I do believe this is the reason this place is such a happy joyfilled place. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

Quote: But of course the rules had to screw this up by talking about percantages... A good rule, because it's ridiculous to call a film with two colored frames and 170,000 black & white frames a "mixed" color film.
Well I never wanted the color option in the database in the first place but some people felt they had to have it... But it's even more ridiculous to implement a feature and then don't use it for what it was intended for. Of course there will always be a few narrow cases but the 10% rule is just arbitrary nonsense. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

If you really wanted to take this rule literally you'd see that it already gives you exactly what you ask for: Quote: Use when the coloring for at least 10% of the film differs from the rest of the film. --------------- |

Wanted? Since when did following the rules become optional? Of course we have to follow the rules when contributing, I never said anything else. That it makes us all look like morons uncapable of thinking for ourselves is just a bonus in this case. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

Following someone else's rules for populating their database does not make anyone look like a moron. Besides, a literal reading of the "Mixed" color definition reveals that it does not say what most people seem to think it does. --------------- |

It's the case with many of the rules, but your common sense isn't my common sense and my common sense isn't another user common sense. That's why we have the strict rules for the database and the "everything goes" rules for our personal database. |

However, I would have simply stated in the rules to use Mixed when there are scenes in both color and black & white. I don't think we need to qualify it any more than that. | Posted: | | | | Agreed the 10% is arbitrary, especially if some wiseass wants to argue the closing credits and black and white. |

| Posted: | | | | Invelos needs to supply the community with stop watches in order to figure out and contribute this data! Why should this section be the only one with a 10% rule? Ken really should re-think this area since it is not consistent with the rulings made in other areas. For example. we are required to copy data exactly from the back cover...except when it comes to B&W, Color, Mixed data. The 10% rule is arbitrary, inconsistent and makes contributing this data more complex than it should be. "It's either mixed or it's not. It should be that simple." |
