I just want to see if my 4k equipment actually does what they claim :-) |

That's why in Ken's link above they say "Expanded color requires xvYCC-compatible TV and Blu-ray player". Theres nothing new in this technique. Several Blu-rays have already been scanned and mastered 4k and then downscaled to BD standards, new Bond releases for example. This "4k mastered" is nothing else than another annoying sticker to remove from covers  |

What 4k equipment you have? Oppo, Denon. Don't have a 4k display yet, but been waiting for an excuse to go looking.... |

What 4k equipment you have?
Oppo, Denon. Don't have a 4k display yet, but been waiting for an excuse to go looking.... If I understand correctly they both can upscale to 4k. If you have native 4k material they don't actually do anything  Although I think that your Oppo cannot even play native 4k material. |

Looking at the Ghostbuster's screen-shots I'm slightly underwhelmed. Hmm.. ok the info on 4k is limited because in reality, there's really been nothing much to test all these 4k claims - well that's what most reviewers etc say, and I tend to agree. However, the denon, even if it's 4k processing is not compatible still has 4k passthrough. Also the Oppo has a source direct option if it's 4k isn't compatible. So, I'd say even in the worst case scenario.. it would end up with the display doing the processing. |

Seems like most of the differences come down to the specific transfer. The newer titles had previous releases from 4K transfers. It seems the only titles which may have at a 2K transfer for their original releases were Glory, Ghostbusters, and Spider-man. |

It's exactly this... That's what I'm finding in my reading too. If the old release was bad, the 4k mastered version will likely be better. But your not likely to see much improvement over a good HD transfer. So I can safely ignore it for the most part. | | | | Tom. |
