Please show me any post where I said the current linking system is perfect.

For me personally...

IMDb=worst
DVDP=best

As IMDb linking system works quite well, and you find that DVDP is far better, it is not far from being perfect if we follow your opinion.

That is talking about the database as a whole... not the linking system. And even there I still never said either is perfect! So I will thank you to stop putting words in my mouth that I have never used!

Are you so ashamed of your opinion that you refuse to assume it ?
I just quoted what you wrote.

OMG! Where in that post... please show me anywhere in that post (or any post I ever made) that I said it was PERFECT!!! Something can be the best I have seen and still be FAR from perfect! And I stand by what I said... this is the best I ever seen and imdb is the worst I ever seen! The linking? Not so much and would rather see another way. But the database on a whole... best I have seen considering my needs.

I seriously don't know what the problem here is. Is it a language barrier thing... are you purposely being dense to prove some sort of point or do you just don't understand?

And for the record... I don't assume anything... I go by what I see nothing more and nothing less.

You are the one that is claiming I said something I never said. Not the other way around. I am still wondering where you ever seen me say linking or anything else was PERFECT. That is what you claimed I said.

As I said... just because I say something is the best is far from saying something is perfect. The Best does not equal perfect! It means nothing more then it is the best thing available for my needs.

Once again you can't resist the urge to jump all over something I say and blow it out of all proportion. You need professional help in my opinion.

I wasn't talking about linking. I never mentioned linking. That is a separate issue for those of us with the intelligence to differentiate.

As for Ziyi ZHANG...the links in my database work absolutely fine thank you very much.

On this point, we perfectly agree. The program dvdprofiler works perfectly as long as you do not use Invelos database, but your own one. The problem is for users who do not have time to correct Invelos profiles and have no linking when using "fully audited" profiles from online database (and here is the rubbish, not in IMDb).

The problem we have is with people using good data for themselves, and contributing for others "carbon copy" of covers and credits, with all their errors (when they do not add voluntarily errors to obey stupid rules).

You know what annoys me about you surfeur51?

It's the fact that you think we don't understand you and you keep repeating yourself.

We ALL agree with what you say. Ken himself is aware that the linking system is in desperate need of an overhaul and has promised one.

So, why keep going on about it? It's a very negative approach to the situation. Instead of constantly criticising why not help others with linking or make constructive suggestions in the appropriate forum?

Because we have people here who say that IMDb data is rubbish, and DVDP online is far better, proving that not everybody agree with what I say. And the consequence is what we see : Ken is probably no more working on a new system after most vocal users here wrote they are happy with what they have.

People who accept to play with current rules just say to Ken : that's Ok, go on on this road.

Once again I haven't seen anyone say they are happy with what they have... I know I never have. The most I have said is I want something else... no imdb! Never said... not even once I want to keep what we have. The most I ever said is I can make it work. And that is just stating the truth.

It is not a rules problem... it is a software problem. I don't believe the rules should change at all... it should be to match the credits exactly. But we definitely need a new linking system in the program itself to make everything link easier.

Can't we just ignore those posts? The fact that everyone keeps "biting" seems like a sure-fire way to keep 'em coming...

...IMDB-mined rubbish polluting the database.

IMDb-mined data is far more exact than Invelos rules invented data. Rubbish polluting the database does not come from IMDb, it comes from insane rules. I cannot understand how people can accept that Ziyi ZHANG does not link wih ZHANG Ziyi, or Jean-Paul Belmondo with Jean Paul Belmondo. That is what we get with Invelos database, not with IMDb.

In fact, IMDb-mined profiles were the best ones in Invelos database. Unfortunately, they are disappearing with people replacing correct names with misspelled crap invented by rules, destroying the linking in other users databases.

This would be me. I am removing the IMDB copied cast and crew data from the database and replacing it with cast and crew that match the on-screen credits. Which follows the contribution rules. And if if upsets people, oh well. Until there is a change in the system or rules, I guess you will just have to suck it up and be unhappy.

No, you don't. You transform on-screen credits, when you replace FRANCOIS BERLEAND by Francois Berleand, adding two spelling mistakes and creating a non-existing, non-linking variant.

@Pantheon : You see why I have to repeat myself ? Though I have explained this many times, some people have still not understood the problem, and think that what they enter matches on-screen credits. That just match insane rules.

Whether it links or not is not my decision. I follow the rules as they are written. So until a new linking system is designed and the contribution rules are changed, or you buy the company and we do it your way. I'll keep doing the same to accented names not matching screen credits.
