What a shame that a contributor was compelled to justify his contributions after the fact. Any objections to them ostensibly have been already resolved during the contributions process. If not, then the process shares the fault as much as the individuals. I respect Kathy's feeling that the process is simple. But speaking for myself, it is situations such as this that inhibit my desire to try again. The level of animosity, politics and negativity are not compatible with my personality. But that's me. Thank goodness there are those of you who can tough it out. I mean, I never could have come back in a perfectly civil manner such as marcelb7 did and calmly explain his methods. Kudos for that.

So, I say congratulations and thanks to all contributors. DVDP would be almost useless without your valuable efforts.

when everything was right what he spreads i would respectfully for his work. but he distributed his fault around the world. that is the reason for this that i can not say "thank you".

a small example:
who has only Laura Goldsmith as Costume Designer for A Perfect Getaway (2009) in his profile? and now take a look how this provided. ... right.

-> correct credit

If you think it is really that serious, and the current process did not prevent it, it does no good to rant about it in the forum. You are also spreading objectionable material around the world. How do we know what is being said is not "sour grapes" or jealousy (rhetorical question - not accusing anybody)? An ineffective complaint does no more good than the ineffective contributions being complained about.

I would be more impressed if the strength of the arguments that the complainers are making, resulted in rules changes, or in changes to Invelos policy, or profile corrections if possible. Otherwise, they might as well be "###ing in the wind".

Remember that ill-fated Gold Audited Profiles of long ago? One of the goals was to have a profile locked and sealed once blessed as complete, according to some standard. In that case, you would never worry about the public version ever being messed up (or changed) by anybody.

but the problem is that a movie has 15 different profiles with 15 different entrys for crew and cast. that can not be! i was pleased to see that such things are stored in a master profile. and that is also the problem that always encountered errors. like common name (credits taken from imdb), BY and so on...

the problem is Laura Goldsmith is the Costume Designer for the film A Perfect Getaway (opening credits of principal crew). Leslie Eve Herman is the credit for Costume Supervisor (ending crew credits) which is contributed under Costume Designer.

right. but this is only imdb credits without watch the full end credit (and understand the rules). and we have the next error in the database. i dont think that we should support this practice.

that is from the film I just visually checked it. And you don't take just from the end credits.

the contribution was 2010, 4 years ago. the list of contributable crew jobs has changed since then & the CLT totals have changed.  Both names should be in the profile. Missing the costume supervisor doesn't make it a bad profile. There are plenty of profiles in the database that have only Art Director and Production Designer in the art crew section, because that was the only art crew that was allowed to be contributed and nobody has done an update since then.
What you can do is a full audit and contribute the missing crew members, makeing sure that the screen credits are correct and add any known common names/BY.

emmeli,

ate0357 is correct.  Although the crew chart has not changed much over my tenure here, from my reading of past forum posts it had several key changes before that profile was contributed.  The rules do state to use the end credits, but it also states "If a film has actors listed in the opening credits, which are not listed in the end credits, add these to the list in DVD Profiler before those taken from the end credits", but that is in the cast section (not the crew).  Usually crew is not duplicated between the two, and the crew credit section has no limitation of using end credits only.

The point is that the contribution was correct at the time, and the only issue is the profiles should have additional credits because of crew chart changes.  It is not productive to call him out on this especially since he did nothing wrong.

Also in your comment on "which credit?".  The contribution system only allows so much space for comments.  You cannot always put in all the detail.  I see this all the time.  We put in all the detail we can.

The productive way to approach this is just to re-audit the profile based on the beginning and end credits and correct the differences.

Look who's talking! Everybody makes faults. I know a guy who wants to change the title "Let Me In" into "Let me in" with the note "correct titel per rules" a few days ago. Which rules? So please, marcelb7 has made an outstanding work and it's not fair to degrade all his effort in such a way.

A contribution from 2010 might contain wrong data in 2014. Quite a shocker, eh? It's called "database evolution"

My contributions might have been correct at the time, but if you think they might need an update now, you're welcome to contribute it (and I see that you already did. Great!). It's not that my data is the be all and end all... especially if it's a contribution from years ago.
