I agree with Tim... but I also agree with you that it should be optional.

But that may be because I concentrate more on TV Series then movies...

Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect]

When I am in Crew and click to somebodies name I will see all the films he is credited in Crew, when I click on somebodies name in Cast I will see all the films he is Cast in. I don't understand why you would see all films at the same time.

Searching for an actor in the database has nothing to do with separating / combining cast & crew. You would still be able to search for Clint Eastwood as an actor, because this information will still be stored in each profile.
I know that. I was answering to T!M's proposal : When I click on someone's name in DVD Profiler, I want to be able to see all his credits.

Because I want to know all movies a person is involved - I don't understand what's so hard to understand on this.

Yes, now John Doe in cast section is (db vise) different person than John Doe in Crew section. For example if you add a BY for John Doe on cast it doesn't add it for John Doe on crew.

Yeah, but now you'r describing dechnical limitations of the program. You're not arguing why someone shouldn't want to see all the profiles a person is involved in.

Besides, I think Ken allowed us to use a confirmed BY from one section in the other as well, needed or not.

The program does not add this birthyear to John Doe on Crew automatically - but I do it manually!

Wasn't there a CLT plug-in or extension a few years back that allowed you to play around with the results?
