Additionally, rather than BD, I'd like to see BR (as opposed to the longer Blu-ray).

No thanks, since the media is called Blu-ray Disc which abbreviates BD. BR doesn't mean anything.

I like the present situation where everyone is a little happy rather than one where some people are ecstatic and others miserable.

Like Tim... I knew from the first post that we wouldn't get a consensus on this. Everyone is either partial to their own way... or only has the one way in the collection and sees it as a waste of time to change it to something different now.... having to have all their profiles updated. This is not something that will be consistent in the online database.

I'd prefer "RSTWVDOI" - short for "Round Shiny Thing With Video Data On It"

But then wouldn't we have to change DVD > DV?

No, since DVD means Digital Versatile Disc.

I've never seen "BD" in Disc Description, and I'd never use it.

Media Type "DVD" -> Disc Description "DVD".
Media Type "Blu-ray" -> Disc Description "Blu-ray".

No empty Disc ID's for digital copies whatsoever - note that the program can't read them

Why shouldn't Profiler be able to read them? They are either DVDs or Blu-rays with data on it.

Some releases also come with CDs such as L.A. Confidential (BD) and The Original Christmas Classics (BD).

I've never seen "BD" used as a description other than in this forum. You can do a google search for "DVD"....now try doing one for "BD".

Most people on the street will know what you are talking about if you say "I bought a DVD as a gift", or even "I bought a Blu-ray disc as a gift", I doubt any will know if you say "I bought a BD as a gift".

....as ever, DVDP has the option to enter data into your local as you see fit.

Well, the BDA refers to it as BD.

Well, in France BD is very well known to be a "Bande Dessinée" (Comics), and has never been used for blu-ray.

I have a few of those, Amadeus as a bonus CD, as does my Rudy DVD.  I have a handful, and I keep a "blank" disc in my local, as to identify it as such.  I also use the DVDP to Access plugin and I can run queries against my database.  I think it is better to have too much information than not enough.

Maybe because you have invented your own abbreviation Br-D?
