And as I said... the overview rule I happen to agree with. But most the ones I want to see fixed I (That is me personally... no matter how anyone else feels) feel the only correct way to fix is with a program fix. The linking problem... the original title for TV series... etc., etc., etc.

Once again I AGREE WITH THE RULE TO COPY OVERVIEWS EXACTLY PER COVER.... I don't care what other people's opinion on the matter is... I am not changing my opinion on this just because others may disagree with my opinion.

But I still feel this has nothing to do with the topic. As it is 2 different programs (or in this case sites) for 2 different purposes. My feelings can (and should be) different for each one.

You opened this topic whimpering because you found errors in Gracenotes. But you find normal that the average dvdprofiler user gets wrong overviews in the database. In fact, it is exactly the same problem and you just want to impose your view to others : no errors in Gracenotes, and the errors you wish in dvdprofiler. Accept the fact  that some users do not like errors in dvdprofiler more than you like them in Gracenotes.

I do not see as a wrong overview if it matches the case in hand. There may be an error on the cover... but the way I... and I am far from the only one... see it if the overview in the program does not match what is on the cover then we are putting an error into the database. Changing what is only on the cover to something that is not on the cover is creating an error in the program.

And before you talk about running time, aspect ratio and all those other things. There is a huge difference here. This is info that is on the disc itself not only on the cover. So we have something to go to without going out side of the product we bought. And yes I see this as a huge difference and once again I am not the only one.

You can see this topic... and me for that matter... any way you want. But guess what... I am allowed my own opinion just as much as you are allowed yours. And I am allowed to voice my opinion just as much as you are allowed to voice yours.

I have no idea what a "Gracenote" is. Does it do anything for us?

As far as I can tell it is nothing more then identification of disc in player. When I put a disc in my player it connects to the internet... connecting to Gracenotes... and brings back title, cover art (sometimes) and name of a main cast member or two.

As far as I can tell it does nothing more then that.

Doesn't sound very interesting to me.

Are you involved in Fab's Meta Info?

No.... never even heard of it.

It just caught me as weird when I popped in "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox" and got info (title, cast and cover art) for "Fat Spy" with Phyllis Diller and Jack E. Leonard.

You mean that the movie is not on the disc ? And what is supposed described by the overview ?
Really, wrong running time is verified by real running time on disc, and overview about wrong movie verified by real movie on disc. Cannot see any difference...

Of course, you can say what you want. I never asked you to change your mind. I just found very funny to see Mister "I love Errors In Dvdprofiler" whimpering about errors in Gracenotes.

Note that I love errors in Gracenotes, and I track and collect them. I would find very sad to see them corrected just because some users do not like them

If by "Gracenotes," what is being talked about is "Gracenote," then there is no need to wonder what it is: They have a web site.

The history of Gracenote and the relationship to the old CDDB can be found in various articles, such as Wikipedia.

Anybody can register for a free, limited use, non-commercial license to the Gracenote API. You can't do much with it, but it is fun to mess with. The commercial API (used by Sony, Mercedes and other big companies) costs a lot of money.

I have not found to any free / cheap way to submit updates to Gracenote.

I just looked at one of the older threads linked in one of the post and came across Martin "DaddyDVD". He hasn't posted in 5 years.
