It's completely useless to discuss how others do or write things. You'll find examples for everything out there.

The only thing matters is our data base and our rules!

rules?

- Episode descriptors are part of the title; separate them with a colon and space; e.g. "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock". For multiple descriptors, use a colon and space for each break.

- For music and stage performance DVDs, use the performer or group name followed by the DVD title, separated with a colon and space. For example: "U2: Rattle and Hum", "Ellen Degeneres: The Begining".

No Episode, no Music = no colon. <- simple

He actually is staying on topic.  What he is saying is, in the absence of a rule for this specific situation, you use a rule for similar situations.

As examples:

The rules state, "Specify the type of packaging in which the DVD is released."  There is no section which states, "Specify the type of packaging in which the Blu-ray is released."

The rules state, "Add disc information for each disc using a DVD-ROM drive."  There is no section which states, "Add disc information for each disc using a Blu-ray ROM drive."

The rules state, "Copy the overview from the back of the DVD case exactly as written."  There is no section which states, "Copy the overview from the back of the Blu-ray case exactly as written."

I could go on, but I think I have made the point.  T!M is correct, this really is simple...once personal preference is removed.

and for your "US profile standards" use this.

thanks for reading.

You're welcome but, why not this for "US profile standards?"

Or this?

If I were a cynical man, I might think you cherry picked the one that suited your argument.  I say this because I did a google search and the Hollywood Reporter link was actually under the Rotten Tomatoes link in the search results.  In fact, on the first page of results, 6 of the links had it with a dash, 3 had it with a colon and 1 had it with nothing but a space.  When I went to the second page of results, the numbers shifted in favor of the colon so, truth be told, there was no "US profile standard" to speak of.

I use the phrase "US profile standards" because the vast majority of US contributions have been contributed and accepted using a colon.

Since consistency is the goal, and most US profiles have been submitted and accepted using that colon, I believe that meets the definition of "standard".

"Standard" per google search:
adjective: standard

1.
used or accepted as normal or average.
"the standard rate of income tax"
synonyms: normal, usual, typical, stock, common, ordinary, customary, conventional, wonted, established, well established, settled, set, fixed, traditional, prevailing
"the standard way of doing it"

A simple way to solve the delimiter problem is to allow people to choose how it is displayed on their screen.

As the cover in the OP shows the German release emmeli correctly searched for German sources.

If you do things correctly, than you get consistency.
19 people with option 2 have it wrong. You can keep posting sites to show the correct way to do the title, but it won't make a difference. It's not about being correct but doing it their way.

And the main problem again: Everyone wants their preferences reflected in the main database - despite the fact that we have friggin' LOCKS.

Do you (all of you) really think that this US-locality profile has the title Buffy - im Bann der Dämonen: Die komplette Serie?

But magic of magic, it has this title in my database! What dark spirits did I conjure to achieve that?
