Is someone trying to kill off DVD Profiler?  New contributions seem to be declined for no reason

I honestly believe that the contribution rules system ...

Not the system, but the rules themselves. Since they forbid to build a functional database, many users consider there is no interest to spend time and not getting good linking, filtering and sorting of data.

Even the German community which used to be really powerful

Powerful?? Dumb!

It was the Germans who began to add uncredited local distributor post-post production people to the Cast.

Result: Cast useless.

I've made more than three thousand contributions.  Out of all those I have had three rejected, and each time it was because I hadn't followed the rules  (okay, I had, but my notes didn't explain that I had, which might as well be the same thing).

The reason that more people aren't contributing is because it's hard work and most users expect someone else to do the contributing for them.

As far as I can see, the only reason for the rules that we have is to make the database functional and accurate.  They're not there for any other reason, and if you follow the rules properly your contributions won't be rejected because they'll be correct.

Rules are not made to make the database functional. They ask for carbon copy of data, which means that same actors/titles/compagnies/... have different entries so are not linked, and cannot be sorted or filtered correctly. Not speaking of errors that must be entered, as a wrong overview... People who want a working database have to build correctly their profiles, then are not allowed to contribute their excellent (= not per the rules) profiles. Contributors probably like to spend their time, but it is useless work.
