Ok gang I have three questions and i want some answers please. Surfeur;s wish is the single most destructive issue to come up. And i hav esaid so, it will utterly destroy the Rules and 5 years worth of work. This is not the first time i hav said this and no one has said anything

Questions
1)Do you know this and don't care?
2)Do you not understand how this is true?
3) Or you are just ignoring it?

Please I want to hear some answers

Personally, I do not subscribe to your "the sky is falling" description of the issue!

I will answer your questions here the same as I did in the other thread:

None of the above.

I know that and I care.

However, getting the data correct and respecting that others have a real problem with entering incorrectly spelled words in their language is more important than the amount of work required to get it correct.

I wish I had a green arrow to give you for the bolded part, but I am all out. You shall get one tomorrow for this, though.

Francois is also a legitimate French name, pronounced Frankoa.

This is probably one of the stupidest thing I've read on this forum since I became a member in march 2007

While I couldn't even imagine where to look for it Jimmy... I do remember the post where someone with the French flag did say that Francois is also a legitimate French name. Take from that what you will. I can only tell you what I saw.

Actually, as I recall it, Yves said this as a joke.

But if you can find it, I'd like to see it.

Like I said... no idea how I could possibly find it. Wouldn't even know where to start looking with all the threads that the word Francois contains!?!

Maybe you are right... but I could have sworn it was someone else.

Whereas I've never seen a French person with the name Francois, I have seen non-French people with French ancestry with the name Francois. However the "c" would never, never be pronounced as a "k". I believe that's the part No_Name is referring to.

I am shocked that you believe everybody has to see things the same way you do.  While it may be as plain as the nose on your face to you, I have never seen your face, much less your nose, so it isn't for me.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Exactly. Of course I live in the french part of my country and use the language only for 40 years, so a resident of the USA knows probably more than me and all the others Frenchmen here about the french ortograph

as far as François, we would have to be careful.  Not everybody in the world with FRANCOIS is François.

I am sure that there are a number of Americanized versions that are spelled Francois.  So even if we accept one (with proper documentation) does not mean all are that way.

It isn't about every person in the world, but the Frenchmen and the others french speaking countries (or not since I'm part of a french speaking province inside an english country).
