I'll get right on that. I'll reply to this thread when it's been fixed. Within minutes from now.

Okay. It should be fixed now. The same link applies, I just overwrote the previous file.

Thanks for the heads up surfeur.

Perform a database repair with the following options:
  Select "Custom"
  Deselect "Preserve cast/crew with images"

This will remove all castmembers except those attached to the Headshots profile.

Now perform a database backup and select only "Include cast/crew databases, with photos".

This results in a very small update that is quick to process.

Should the database repair remove all the unused cast - including the ones with photos?

Because, if so, it isn't doing that for me.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong, as I'm following all the instructions.  But after I've done the database repair and then the backup in the separate database with only the Headshots profile, I still have all the cast listed from the database that had photos, not just the ones attached to the Headshots profile.  So its still a 369mb file ...

Is there something else I'm supposed to do to eliminate the not-new photos?

Indeed, you should also remove the cast members with photos. This way, only those listed in the profile you created should remain.

So make sure "Preserve cast/crew with images" is not selected.

In addition to selecting "Custom->Remove unused," you also need to uncheck "Preserve cast/crew with images." That option is a sub-option of "Custom->Remove unused."

Okay, I think I've gotten it right this time.
http://www.memory-motel.net/db/danae2.dpb

There are 119 shots, all cast, almost all new & almost all musicians.  I think I got all of them and I think they're all mine (not having known that I needed to keep up with these as I was adding - will know better from now on!).

And thanks, everybody, for all the help in getting this right!!

Also, thanks Astrakan for the much better Clark Gable shot.

Most of the images were new for me, since the comparison screen popped up only a handful of times. Some very nice additions. Thanks

I've been working on creating a merged database of everyone's submissions that they've uploaded to my server.  Accepting only these smaller versions has made my job in maintaining the master database SO MUCH easier!

Please review my notes on page 1 of this thread on how I rate headshots and decide which to keep and which not to keep.

Size of the merged contributions so far: 224 MB (22 db's imported, 11 pending)

==============================

If you wish to submit headshot DB's for V5, upload your files to http://strangejourney.net/Headshots.cfm

Please name the files starting with your user name and then whatever naming scheme you wish.  I have a 20 mbit connection to my web server at home so files should upload fast.

Only DPB files will be accepted via this link.  Uploading the same file name will NOT overwrite the previous file (to prevent against tampering) but I will contact you to verify.

Please do not contribute if you are including nudes.  I will accept unverified Birth Years but note that I will be stripping them out.  I would prefer you didn't contribute if you add mass-BY's that are unverified because it's a time consuming process even to remove one BY.

Updated notes on how I evaluate headshots:
B&W vs Color: Originally, I favored B&W shots.  Now B&W or Color doesn't play a part in the comparison.

Neutral Face: I've relaxed this one a bit and evaluate on a case-by-case basis.  I've been accepting updates when the face isn't neutral but the overall photo was a better headshot.

Age: I still favor an older headshot over a younger one (based on being active in acting) but if the apparent age is close between the two photos, I'll go with the better overall headshot even if it is the slightly younger photo.

Killpatient,
I don't know if you're doing all this work because you enjoy it, or because you think it's something that the rest of us need. If it's because you enjoy it, by all means keep doing it, but if you're doing it only out of a sense of obligation... well, personally I think you can probably stop.

I have no problems continuing the way we've been doing it for the past little while, with each person uploading their own updates for everyone else to grab at their leisure. The benefit of this is that the updates are small-ish, and therefore less time consuming to process. The downside would be that there's no place to download a consolidated file containing all the updates, but personally I have no problems with that.

But like I said, if you genuinely enjoy doing it, knock yourself out. I doubt anyone would complain.

Just my $0.02.

v5 has inclusions that came in before people started creating the smaller databases.  I may keep doing it because user submissions with the free file sharing sites only last a month'ish and the v4 came out last July.  It's also nice to have a purified db every year or so if you want to refresh your entire cast/crew list from scratch to remove bad/old entries.

Plus, the main reason I'm doing it is because I use it.

To the user who created the file Headshots_v4-addendum-v6.dpb, the file name indicates that it is the 6th version of the file.  Does this version include the previous five updates as well?

I'm not the user who submitted it but a possible suggestion to avoid having to ask who submitted it might be to have another box where the submitter can include their DVDP name. As well as that, you could also add the names into a "Thanks" when you finish collating the images & post here that they're ready.

I don't know if that's possible with your current set up. My knowledge of coding isn't that high.

Either way, keep up the great work, it's much appreciated.

That file wasn't submitted via the upload page, it was one of the files I manually downloaded around August of last year based on the date stamp.

So far, most people have been including their user name as part of the file name as requested except for three files (headshots_M-R.dpb, headshots_V-Z.dpb, and headshotsS-U.dpb) so it doesn't seem to be really a problem.  I could put in a text box and have the program rename the file to include the value but that wouldn't stop people from entering random stuff in there either.  The main use is to allow me to give credit where credit is due and also in case I need to contact them.
