What an excellent idea, it would be of great help to my friends that borrow and I could show off how many I have to help out the burglars... kidding about the burglars... (I hope). I have always avoided adding my collection to facebook because profiler is a wonderful database. Now if it could be added... I can only assume it would help with the knowledge of profiler as well...

I would absolutely support a Facebook app from DVD Profiler. It would be a good opportunity for people to compare collections, not to mention the ability to promote the software itself on a very large and popular platform.

I vote yea.
Prince Charming: You! You can't lie! Where is Shrek?
Pinocchio: Well, uh, I don't know where he's not.
Prince Charming: You don't know where Shrek is?
Pinocchio: On the contrary,
Prince Charming: So you do know where he is!
Pinocchio: I'm possibly more or less not definitely rejecting the idea that I undeniably do or do not know where he shouldn't probably be. If that indeed wasn't where he isn't!

Personally, I cannot understand the massive negativity projected by several users towards this request at the beginning of this thread.

What on earth could be wrong in adding a Facebook app to the system? As several users point out - it would be of great commercial value (if nothing else) to Invelos. And I do not see that it would harm the accuracy of our database in any way!

Again - this is just my opinion, and if there are any good reasons against - I would appreciate if the Nay-sayers elaborated their opinions.

Keep on rockin' guys!!

While we're waiting for a Facebook app, you can join our Facebook group for DVD Profiler users.

This is an absolutely horrndous idea, the social networking are the opresent (to a lesser degree) and future targest of hackers, spammers, producers of malware and so forth. If the application were setup simply not participating in facebook, myspace would not be enough to protect a user, one user who participated in a social network would be enough to endanger every other Invelos users.. Yes, we COULD be hacked as well, after all we are a social network but our visibility with respect to facebook, myspace and others is relatively insignificant.<fingers crossed>

I am not sure I would use it, but am OK with it if others want it. Security though obscurity is not security - security is reached though proper design. Coult it be hacked? Sure... Is it a high risk with correct design? Nope...

Skip, I don't know how you come to this conclusion, any experiences in the security field (or programming of social networks)?

We are requesting an OFFICIAL application. I would certainly see some logic in your statement if some dubious "hacker" would do a FAKE dvdprofiler application. But also in THAT case don't be fooled that facebook has not thought about how to prevent malicious acts.
You've been one of the naysayers from the start. First you didn't come up with ANY argument at all (I don't call "O god, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" really thoughtful and constructive at all) and now THIS:
You know what I call your argument - FUD (the whole world is in danger - seriously).

And don't be naive to think that this very site is any more secure than facebook
I am really interested to know if Invelos is interested in staying "insignificant" as you noted but I highly doubt it.

Who says DVD Profiler or Invelos for that matter is insignificant? How do you equate 500,000 +/- users as insignificant?

While I agree that sites such as MySpace, Facebook and others provide the "millennium generation" with a place to express themselves freely in a social environment, which in many cases that I have seen is a good thing, I have also seen a lot of disturbing material and practices on those sites which I find not only abhorrent and disgusting but also dangerous. Security aside, I would caution the developers of this program in exposing their trademark to such an environment. This, of course, is just one user's humble opinion .
