Has anyone seen Day of the dead 2: Contagium? Is it as bad as the IMDB rating suggests (2.4/10), or were peoples expectations too high because of the name?

A little bit of both:

Peoples expectations were somewhat increased by the name, but overall even if called something different it would still be horrendous (and that's not referring to the storyline...). IMO, the use of the name may have caused some better ratings by viewers....

A rule of thumb: anything horror released in Germany by MiB, you should stay very clear of.

They only released one good horror movie in their history (Near Dark) and one that's halfway decent (Shallow Ground). Everything else is just plain bad.

It's pretty terrible, and not even in a good cheesy way. The same people made Creepshow 3, which was equally as bad.

The association with the original Day of the Dead was very loose (i.e. it had zombies in it) and from memory it didn't actually have an ending, felt like they were hoping to do a sequel.
