| | Posted: | | | | I'm gonna get the new Blade Runner edition in December. I've already got the original release, but that was a present from a friend. I've always intended getting a better version.
I also might get the 2-disc version of Constantine, which again I got as a birthday present from a friend, but he got me the single disc version. Aside from that, I don't double dip unless it's going to be for a really good reason. Doing some research helps; I don't have Kill Bill 1 or 2, 'cos there will be a special edition coming out someday soon which I will get. |

| | Posted: | | | | I definitely double-dip my favorites if means an upgrade, I think I'm on my 4th copy of "Smokey and the Bandit" and I currently possess three different masters of the 1931 "Dracula" and "Frankenstein" in my collection. An upgrade from pan/scan to OAR is a must for me, like the recent releases of "Munster, Go Home" and the Italian Trinity comedies. I'm on my third generation of media (VHS > laserdisc > DVD) and still have 350 laserdiscs and 120 videotapes. I generally sell the older copy when it is upgraded. Sometimes a buying decision is influenced more by what it will replace than how much I want to watch it. I was happy to find the Special Edition of "The Towering Inferno" at an okay price so I could put my non-anamorphic copy into the to-be-sold pile. I don't plan on watching any Michael J. Fox comedies soon, but "Michael J. Fox Comedy Favorites Collection" DVD set is appealing because it means I could get rid of four more laserdiscs.  |

| | Posted: | | | | I've double dipped for better transfer and anamorphic rereleases, criterions and all, no matter what the movie. If I own it and an improved edition comes out, I get it. I know I'm probably gonna regret not going HD/BRD on double dips when available. I can't imagine the cost that will incur when I get around to it.  |
