Only on in my collection is 1408 (which I like), but out of all of his movies I have seen Rose Red the most.  As a kid I wasn't allowed to watch It or Killer Klowns from Outer Space anymore after my brother watched them with me and developed a long lasting fear of clowns.

I've also seen that Frank Darabont has made 'The Mist' and it seems to be getting good reviews.

And according to IMDB The Talisman is in production as a TV miniseries and Cell is being prepped as a movie!!

The Mist is absolutely fantastic.

So I take it that he doesn't like IT?

Somehow Dreamcatcher and Silver Bullet never got entered on my list, so I'm up to 30 as I own those as well. This thread has been great, but now I need to double-check my profile against my collection as too many have been missing.

I forgot about Nightmares & Dreamscapes, so I'm at 21.

Glad to see that there are so many King fans in the community, and that this thread has generated some very nice bonus info (like Vega's info about 'The Long Walk'    ).

As I already stated in my original post, I am both a book and movie King fan.
What I'd like to know next is which books/short stories you'd like to see made into a movie (that hasn't already been done)...

Personally I would love to see the following;

*The Dark Tower (this is an absolute favourite, and IMO it should be directed by Peter Jackson  ),
*Rose Madder
*Insomnia
*Gerald's Game

Keep on rockin' guys....

- The Dark Tower (but I would really worry about it being butchered by Hollywood.  Plus, as much as I love the series I think the mood/style of the story changed pretty significantly towards the end and it lost.. I don't know.. the magic, I guess.. in the last couple books.  They just seemed way longer than they needed to be.
- Cell (which is on the way, 2009, directed by Eli Roth so expect the gore)
- The Running Man (the real story)
- The Eyes of the Dragon (would make a nice big fantasy summer movie)
- The Talisman (again, on the way, TV mini-series next year) (and hopefully they stop there and don't do Black House)
- Insomnia
- The Regulators (It's just so bizarre, it would be fun to see)
"Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader
"A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams

In the category better version (more like the book)

The Stand (too much important information are missing)
Running Man (this one is obvious)

Have to be made :

Insomnia
Gerald's Game (but I'm sure that we will never see a perfect version of this)
The first story of "Four past Midnight about the library policeman (sorry I don't have the english book)

That one is actually called The Library Policeman.

I agree that it would be hard to make a movie from The Dark Tower books.  I don't believe it could be done in a single movie.  It would have to be done over multiple movies like The Lord of the Rings and even then it would take some serious talent to get it right.

I agree that Gerald's Game should be made (I'd like to see Jodi Foster in the lead).

Followed by:
Insomnia
Eyes of the Dragon
Dark Tower
and lots of more of the Short Stories, especially The Ten O'Clock People'.

But it's impossible to make a perfect adaptation, since the lead actress have to be naked for almost all the movie. Maybe if the movie is an European production, but in the actual american system forget it.

Not that I don't want to see it
