I thought I come back to this thread to follow up on my resolution:

Yes, I did manage to quit smoking. Like announced I stopped in march while in Germany. After my return to Taiwan it was quite strange to have the withdrawal effects and they lasted for approx. 3 months.

During the first month I occasionally had a smoke with one or several of my colleagues. However, I have not had a single cigarette since June.

Same here!!! this is also my goal for 2009 as well as cutting down my number of unwatched dvd's.

My goals (resolutions) for 2009:

- finish writing my in-progress fanfics

- lose at least 50 pounds
(I lost 40 last year, so I want to aim a bit higher this year but still be reasonable.  For a very long time I have put off losing weight because it has always seemed completely out of reach - but broken down over long periods of time it doesn't seem so impossible any longer.)

- actually put a little money in my savings and keep it there

- get a decent paying job or get into another degree-granting program
(One of these absolutely must happen, because I just graduated and must start paying on student loan debt.)

- clean out my shed and purge stuff in it
