Ken has announced that he will be adding a few case types in 3.1. I have added new images in preparation for these upcoming additions.

The "online" database has already been changed to reflect the renaming of the "Box Set" case type to "Slip Case".

Enjoy,
Dan

Are THINpaks DVDs like Dragon and Raptor released ("Dance of the Demons", "From Beyond")?

THINpaks are a skinny version of the keep case. I found an image online of how you might see THINpaks today: The image comes from: http://www.rocelco.com/DVD.htm.

What's the difference between HD Keepcase and HD Slim?  Are HD Keepcases those thicker cases sold in Europe?

edit - Never mind,  I found my answer in the forum.  So yes, HD Keep Cases are those thick cases used mainly in Europe.  Most US releases are HD Slims.

Sure, here are some pictures I made.

1) Standard Elite Cases

2) The "thicker" cases the fuzz is about, used by Universal and Fox

3) Elite Case (1st) and the thicker one (2nd) from the inside

4) Comparison with an standard DVD Keep Case

If you have a close look at 3) you will see that there is "Elite" written below the 300 disc. When it comes to Kingdom of Heaven, there is "Amaray". But this is only the manufacturer and as you can see, its clearly different from an DVD Keep Case, the edges are rounded and the height is different. The only thing is, that it's thicker than the standard Elite Case, from the inside its identical too. Furthermore we don't differ between all the Keep Case types e.g. Amaray, Scanavo, Flexbox because they nearly look the same.

So what do you think guys, does it count as an Elite too?

I've quoted the post in question so we've got the pictures here too.

I have a 2-disc special edition that came in a box with a magnetic closure.  Inside the box are the 2 discs in separate keep cases [the movie on disc 1, special features on disc 2].  All three boxes [the outer box and both keep cases] have the same UPC code.  Would this be classified as box set, keep case or custom?  I'm guessing box set, but an argument could be made for custom.

It depends on the contents but it sounds like "custom" to me as we don't profile special features discs separately. I'm assuming here that the box only contains one film.

Just need to get something strait if you have two or more films in a Digipak and that is in a slip case what case type is this, If you then have the same film set but this time in 2 Digipaks in 1 slip case what is the case type for this.

1 Digipak + Slip Cover =

Just left the last picture, but I want to make sure people know that the thickness of the case is what determines if it's an HD Keepcase or HD Slim, not the style of the case (most regulars probably do).  I have several HD DVD cases that open up like the HD Keepcase in the pictures (all from Universal), but they're the same thickness as the HD Slim cases (thus they're HD Slim).

Also, could someone please post a picture of what a Steelbook case looks like?  I haven't seen one and I'm not quite sure I know what they look like.  I'm thinking it's going to be like the Halo 2 Limited Edition and Perfect Dark Zero special edition cases, but I'm not positive.

I think I know the answer to this already, but I thought it worth checking to be sure. If a DVD comes in a regular CD-style jewel case, rather than the super-jewel pictured in this thread, is that still classed as "jewel" in DVD Profiler?

An example (before anyone asks, this is a 90-minute DVD with bonus 1-track CD, not the other way around):

I would still class that as a "jewel".

Unless Ken posts new images himself, there will be no updates to the original post.
