There is a "new" Millennium Edition at play.com through PlayTrade (ebay style).
€15,- from a good seller, cheaper from a somewhat less rated one.

Might get that one.

Again ty to all posters.
I'm sure this does not only help me but many others.

Ty very much (and everyone else).

-Which dvd (version) of Night of the Living Dead [1968] do you people recommend?

I see in the 2nd post not the 30th anniversary version.
At amazon someone suggests the "Elite Entertainment - Millennium Edition".
I can find 3 or 4 different dvd special versions where I hear about this quality this, this transfer that.

I wanna buy it at amazon.co.uk or play.com.

I see you are Dutch. Indies actually released a good version also (UPC 8714025508121), the only thing they kinda screwed up is, they claim it's the coloured version, but luckily, it is the original Black and White version. It contains a 78 minute documentary on Disc 2. You can probably pick it up at a Media Markt or a Saturn.

On the other hand, you can buy the Millenium Edition for less than 7 GBP, shipping included over at Amazon.co.uk.

Yes you are right.

I saw it before but it didn't say anything like Millennium Edition or Special Edition etc so I glanched over it since the first 20 hits were all the same movie only different editions and covers etc.

But then I saw the cover at play.com you just reminded me to check again at amazon.
I'll just buy the Millennium Edition there from a 3rd party (new) then.

This is the version with the most extra's, B&W & color and 2 commentaries if I'm correct right?
I'm a sucker for commentaries .

Yes, this is the one with the most extras (so far) and was the one with the best picture and sound quality until the release of the 40th anniversary edition. See northbloke's link a few posts back for a good comparison.

The Millenium Edition of NOTLD released be Elite Entertainment is, by far, the best release to date with tons of extras:

Film Parody "Night of the Living Bread"
Original Mono Soundtrack
DD 5.1 Remix
Still Photo Gallery, featuring rare color photos
The History of Romero's company—The Latent Image
Scenes from the "lost" Romero film, "There's Always Vanilla"
Video interview with "Night of the Living Dead's" Judy Ridley
Final interview by star Duane Jones
Foreign and Domestic posters and collectibles
Original Props
The entire original shooting script
Cast members' personal scrapbooks
Romero directed TV spots and short films
and last, but not least...
A full color insert featuring liner notes by Stephen King.

The Resident Evil movies aren't bad I suppose, I watched Extinction the other night and thought it was fairly good - I can't stand Apocalypse though, it just seems TOO corny. The first one is a pretty good effort, I particular enjoyed the opening scenes with the initial T-Virus release.

I though RE1 was good, second one was boring (but still worth watching) and the third one was just awesome. I particularly loved the "Mad Max" style settings. Personally if you havent seen any, id get a Trilogy box, that way you wount have to pay for the second one much, but can still watch it

BTW, has anyone seen Doomsday? I'm really looking forward for the release, eventhough the only review ive seen of it said it was "pure garbage"

I mentioned this version in my first post.  I agree with Max 100% this is the best transfer with the best sound.  The special features are fun as well.  But the nicest thing about this version is the print was well preserved and therefore is not muddy.  If you can get the Millennium edition it IS the way to go.

Yes, it's an OK film, but I personally found it too derivative of the films it's meant to be paying homage to. I'd recommend you rent it before you buy it in case you don't like it. It's certainly not the great films Dog Soldiers or The Descent are.

I was rather anxious to see Doomsday, since I really liked Dog Soldiers and The Descent. It isn't total crap, but compared to his first two movies, it is a lot less interesting. The movie has some fine moments, but as a whole it's not of the same quality. Owning his first two movies on DVD, this one will not be included in my collection.

Sorry if I am late, and if my recommendations are a bunch of repeats, but.

I think these go without saying, but any of the films from George A. Romero's Zombie series (my personal fave being Day of the Dead)

Return of the Living Dead 1-3 are fun

28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later

Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetery Man for it's US release). This is a personal favorite of mine.

The Night of the Living Dead, and Dawn of the Dead remakes are good, and a great spoof Zombie film is Shaun of the Dead.

You might like to consider 'The Last Man on Earth' starring the late Vincent Price. I append below an earlier message I wrote on this film, which contains further information (and - just in case, as a zombie fan - you ever come across the answer to my query).

<<The U.K. dvd cover for the film 'The Last Man on Earth' (1964) gives the name of the director as Ubaldo Ragona. The film's rolling credits give the name of the director as Sidney Salkow. Both names are in the Invelos database for this film.  I checked with IMDB which shows 'Ubaldo B Ragona' as director on the Italian prints, and 'Sidney Salkow' as uncredited on the Italian prints.

Purely as a matter of interest, do any of you zombie/vampire/movie trivia fans out there know why this is? Presumably there were two directors on the film, but were they working jointly or did one replace the other? Was there any conflict, or was it a language issue?

This is the film based on Richard Mathieson's book 'I Legend' which has recently been re-adapted
under the same title with Will Smith in the lead role. A previous incarnation had been with Charlton Heston in the lead role under the title 'The Omega Man.'>>

Hope this helps your search for zombie movies.

From what I remember reading about this film is that it was an Italian production with Ubaldo Ragona directing, but Sidney Salkow was on set to help Vincent Price and to prep the english language version.

Thanks northbloke, your explanation sounds entirely credible to me.

Christopher Lee, in his autobiography, has some amusing anecdotes about making films in Italy, including
arbitrary changes in the credits after shooting.

I'm not a particular fan of the zombie/vampire genre, but am interested in the evolution of the
Dracula / Nosferatu legend on film. Recently watched a movie on television titled 'Ravenous' starring
the U.K's Robert Carlisle no less. along with Guy Pearce. A 'western' filmed in Romania and well worth
a watch if it comes around again.
