Absolutely agree with you, 5 minutes of coverage alternating with 5 minutes of commercials is more than I care to sit still for. It was obvious when they returned from commercial breaks a lot of what appeared to be a dazzler of a show was missed. I turned it off after the first hour. A pity you had commercials. The BBC showed it over here and it was good to watch in full. |

| | Posted: | | | | I attempted to cut my 30GB transfer. 28 commercial cuts! I gave up twice and went about doing some other things and came back. My cutting software also gave up on me twice. And my HDD grudgingly disapproved this nonsense treatment.
All in all it was about 3:30h of useful material from the NBC broadcast.
And as a somewhat related opinion I have to say that while watching the Olympics, the water polo games broadcast shows the most artifacts, and the limits of MPEG-2 bitrate applied. Is BBC broadcasting this in h264 in UK? |

| | Posted: | | | | I had noticed the empty seats at many of the venues -- you'd think a country with 1.3 billion people would be be able to provide some decent crowds!
Also here in the US on the NBC Olympics website we can watch any events we want for free if you're a subscriber to a participating cable company. I watched some of the women's team archery last night and view my first ever men's field hockey as well. No announcers really (actually better in some cases)but they do update the scores and provide replays of the best plays.
The power of the internet is something to behold!

Good grief. It just goes to show that China has truly entered the mainstream world society where style and what we can see rules over substance and the truth of things. Now, they are just like us. |

Every government, when they host the Olympics, does that and we all know it. But this thread isn't about government and politics, it is about the people and the athletics...hence the title.
