Quote: Wow, now you are jumping to conclusions, hal. Yes I am angry at your repeated ad hominem attacks, which lowers your credibility tremendously. If you got a red zinger then you need to answer foir it, it was not i that threw it. In fact, as far as I am concerned your ad hominems have been so frequent and insulting, you have NO credibility. You might try being more friendly or something, I don't know what, I have come to believe that you just a nasty person, and i don't like that, I keep looking for signs that point otherwise and can't find them.
I will add that I believe you have on more than one occasion thrown reds that I consider unwarranted but i can't prove it nor would i publicly try to paint you that way.

| Posted: | | | | Are you guys serious?! There is absolutely NO reason to include Supervising Producers in the profiles whatsoever! No matter what any polls or suggestions indicate, the rules are CRYSTAL CLEAR as to what producer credits are to be entered! Grow up! | | | Berak

I can understand the argument that some might posit for Supervising Producers, but unlike a Supervising Sound Editor or Art Director, a Supervising Producer does not sit at the top of the Producer tree, in fact such a credit is far closer to the bottom of the tree than the top.

I haven't been contributing SP just because of that reason of yours.
But, I wonder, is it a fact? It's not - as documented earlier in this thread. |

| Posted: | | | | As others have said we shouldn't currently contribute Supervising Producers, but I have no objection to a third option being added to the Producer crew section (rather than simply merge them with one of the other two). But until then, no - sorry.
Edit: and as others have correctly pointed out, Supervising Producers go between Producers and Executive Producers in terms of seniority. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | Well said, reybr.
So in short: Supervising Directors, are supervising and not directing, and should therefore not be credited in the director tab anyway.
So if they were to be credited, they should be credited in the supervisors tab if any.
And we don't list credits according to hierarchy, but according to the work they've done in the production.
If I'm not mistaken... | | | Last edited: by Gemini76 |

| Posted: | | | | I'm on the fence I think, with a small reservation that I will come to later, I agree the rules don't allow it as it stands. I happen to think they should and it's an oversight that they don't rather than a deliberate idea to leave them out. Someone produces a number of episodes then gets promoted and they no longer are credited; that makes no sense. One observation I will make is that, if ONLY the exact terms in the credited as column, were allowed then why would we need an "Incorrect role" column? And why is supervising not in that column? It could be argued they are producers since supervising is not in the incorrect role column. It would be nice if those who write the rules could add supervising roles to whichever column they should be in so don't keep going over old ground, it's hardly a major revision. Oh can we deal with Dialog Editor as well at the same time? Of course my opinion, as always, is just that and no more valid than anyone elses. I of course continue to follow the rules. | | | Last edited: by Graveworm |

Therein lies part of the problem. Someone else will say oh BTW can we put in Set Decorator, Hair Stylist, or whatever your favorite Crew is. There is no reason why you can't add it to your database, the Other fields, which are user-definable are also not Contributable, so add whatever Crew data makes you happy.
