I wonder how come only R1 DVDs have security stickers. Are Americans that much more dishonest? Or are US thieves just smarter than the thieves in the rest of the world?

Oh, yes. We Americans are nothing but a bunch of low life thieves. We were brought up that way...didn't you know?

Because otherwise the stores would be sued by innocent customers who happened to open the cases by mistake and pocket the discs.

I can't believe the majority of you people "don't give a rat's *" about load times. Attitudes like that will let the companies concerned think the majority doesn't care. That's REAL sad.

I may love the improved picture and to some degree improved sound of Blu Ray, but in many other respects this format has been a major letdown to me. I keep staying with it hoping for improvement but if anything load times are getting slower. Ex. I really hate having to go through TWO loads on Heroes Vol. I or II discs - the discs AND the episodes. This is ridiculous!

This means that the majority doesn't care if the loading time is either 10 or 60 seconds. It's the movie we wanna see in 1080p picture and superb sound quality. That we don't give a rats a** means it takes the time it does, if we're waiting for something good, the loading time doesn't matter at all. For my sake It could load for a day, but in the end I have a great experience when watching it

Sorry 8ball, I guess I should have put a smiley after my post. I don't really think that you're more dishonest than anyone else. Still, the basic question remains - why only on R1?

Still, if it's a TV Show on blu and you have to wait minutes every time you put the disc in your player to watch an episode, it get's tired pretty soon.

Now I don't have any TV Shows on blu, yet, but I guess if you're like me, I watch all episodes on one disc at once, not spread it over days    Then it would only be one loading on each disc, since I believe that there are more than one episode per disc
That will be the same if you watch two movies in a row, same loading time, it's the move/show we're watching, not the "Loading" in the display.....

Appology accepted.

The way I see it is this: The stickers are the least expensive way to deter shoplifters. Some stores use Hard-Cases with electronic security devices that can only be unlocked at check-out. That isn't very cost effective when shipping direct to the consumer. Are the stickers a pain in the rear? Sure, but I'd rather that than open the Case at home only to find an empty case .

Why are you so bound and determined to defend slow loading?  It isn't a good thing.  It is one of a number of performance issues that could be improved to make the experience better.

You brought the subject up and asked for opinions and then you argue against every opinion that doesn't match your own and it is getting old.

Repeating you opinion over and over doesn't make it any more correct, it is still just your opinion.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

and the worst thing that can happen (that I have seen), is when the paper is missplaced and the stickers covers them and destroyes it when removed...    oh. feeling my bloodpressure rising only by thinking about it.

This is what I do when that happens, and it works without any damage 90% of the time...unless the stickers are extremely adhesive and just pounded down hard on the covers:

I split them in the center with a box cutter as has been previously mentioned. I then pull up and detach the sticker halves from the hard plastic part of the case, but leave them intact on the clear top plastic. I then grab the cover under the plastic at the opposite end and pull the cover out ever so gently...while still firmly holding the sticker firmly at the top, sometimes moving your fingers around the sticker. The covers then usually detach from the stickers without any residue or damage at all. I can't really think of an easier way to explain the method, but it works perfectly 9 out of 10 times.

Yes, security stickers are a pain...and we can thank shoplifters for being forced to put up with them.

Another good option for getting rid of stubborn stickers, or sticker residue, is the light application with a paper towel of a yellow product called Goo Gone.  That stuff is magic.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
