All those data, which are most important for me, would be lost without sorting. Parsing problem concerns very few cases, and is easy to solve locally. It is just a theorical problem for the online, which is anyway a mess, and will stay until Ken changes all the system (see how asian names, or stage names are handled...). | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | This is veering very much off-topic, but as explained in other threads the single-name field with a sort field would not keep the parsing problem. As the sort field would be local, the parsing would be done any way you like it without anyone else's profiles being affected. |

| Posted: | | | | I see that a big argument is whether or not people who don't own a DVD should be allowed to submit data.
By the same token, why is it okay for people to vote on a DVD they don't own?
How can they possibly verify the data? | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

Forcing every single user to enter a sort name, just to please a few people who can't agree on a format, just seems like overkill to me. Having Ken add a standard, with deviation with documentation, seem a lot easier to me. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. How can they possibly verify the data? You are correct. Neither should be allowed. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. The sort name could easily be automated (last word + comma + rest of the words) but overridden if necessary, just like the title sort field. For those not interested in parsing or sorting, there would be no extra work. |
