Well John Barrowman has said that he felt they were being punished by cutting the number of episodes - Source.

I'd love it if a 4th series was made Spoiler:  (Select to view)
but now that they've killed off all of the original team except one, I think that they'll be drastically different

Enjoyed "Season 3" of Torchwood AKA: "Children of Earth". I didn't like some of the events in it but over all I really enjoyed it as much as I have the other 2 seasons and all of Doctor Who (New reboot series and Classic Original series).

I forget if they have plans for a Season (Series as they say in the UK) 4 of Torchwood. CoE sort of wrapped things up in case it wasn't renewed for any further seasons. Then again it also kept it just open enough so that a new season could be made.

A friend of my wife stated after watching Torchwood:COE that if he ever saw Davies he would strangle him. (For what happened to two characters in the series.)
I told him to call me if he needed help.
Having said that I loved season 3. I'm looking forward to season 4.
Oh, and if it has not been mentioned before, part of the reason for the 5 episode series is because John Barrowman had a concert tour & other commitments. Sort of the same way Tennant could not do a full series of Who this year do to stage commitments.
