DTS stereo isn't (necessarily) the same as dolby surround. Dolby surround is a method of making two channels into surround. Information that's the same in both channel is moved to the center speaker and information that's the same in bother channels, but out of phase, goes to the rear channel. This is unrelated to codec and can be done with anything that supports two-channel encoding. Most two-channel tracks will be Dolby surround because movies theaters went straight from one speaker to at least four. True two-channel sound was only ever really used in TV and music. |

| Posted: | | | | dts Stereo is a matrixed 2-channel. same technique as dolby surround or chace surround or UltraStereo.... they are all compartible to each other (can enjoy them with a DolbySurround Receiver). Quote: ...Dolby surround is a method of making two channels into surround... nope. the other way round is the correct way. A Multichannel Input can be transfered through 2 discrete channels. | | | regards, Mad -

| Posted: | | | | a normal 2-channel-audio (real stereo) through a Matrix (e.g. Dolby ProLogic II) is "surround-by-accident" but no real DolbySurround ;-) | | | regards, Mad -

... When my information is correct, than Tina Turner "One Last Time In Concert" is a DVD-Release with real 4.1 Quadrophonie(front-left, front right, rear-left rear-right + sub) ...instead of "Ladyhawke" which has a real 4.1 soundtrack on DVD in left, center, right, surround + sub. | | | regards, Mad -
