Should, yeah. But as other already stated, the reality says otherwise.
My Sony KDL-40W4500 has overscan per default. It is only possible to switch it off for the HDMI-Inputs, not for SCART, Component or TV.
cya, Mithi Zero overscan means that all individual pixels are being mapped onto your screen. That is possible only if the signal that's being fed to your screen matches the screen's native resolution, which is why it won't work with connections that don't deliver such a signal. |

If you are doing a 1:1 mapping, you have 0 overscan unless your display is just missing some pixels, but you can rescale an image with overscanning it. I can feed a 1080 signal to my parents 1366x768 display and it won't overscan. |

In the screen settings there's an option that stands on "normal" by default but that just means overscan. The other setting is "Full Pixel". | | | Karsten
