Interviews and bloopers, yes. Trailers and deleted scenes, no.

So if the film makers document the film making process for their own benefit for the process it's not document material?

Just to get a clearer understanding of your view, what about trailers and deleted scenes set them apart from the others?

Trailers go to trailers and deleted scenes go deleted scenes, simple as that in DVDP land. Even if they wouldn't have separete tick boxes, neather of them are "video documentary material".

Not getting into the debate, but I think that this is a very clear reason why we need a glossary/dictionary added so that what something is or isn't is clearly explained by the rules and not where we come up with our own definitions.

[Cynic] You mean something like a definition for the word "Only" as in "[...] as long as the only difference is [...]"?

From what I've learned so far from this forums a glossary wouldn't be of much help since even the already existing clarifications are being ignored, put aside for being made "too long ago", declared to mean something entirely different ... if Invelos dares to contradict the personal preferences.
In addition you will find that currently there is no point within the rules that is undisputed (Some of us even discuss if, and if "Yes" under which circumstances a BluRay is a BluRay).

So a glossary could only be useful if a sub-glossary is published immediately which of course then would need a sub-sub-glossary ... [/Cynic]
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

This is what I was trying to understand. Regardless of what we do in DVD Profiler, why don't you consider trailers and deleted scenes "video documentary material"? What sets it apart from the other stuff? Why do screen tests/auditons, interviews, bloopers, etc. count as "video documentary material" but not trailers and deleted scenes? I've seen deleted scenes and even trailers integrated into documentaries before. Are deleted scenes all that different from bloopers or even auditons/screen tests? They were all filmed by the production and didn't get put into the movie. Heck, in some cases, bloopers and auditions have been put into the movie. What makes trailers and deleted scenes so special?

If I would vote for a change in dvdprofiler according to the extra's, I even would vote to delete the entire selection boxes and go with a blank field just like the synopsis and just type in the extra's as how they are described on the cover or the discs.

As long as this doesn't happen, I'm afraid we'll have to deal with problems like we have now.

Then we would loose the ability to filter by extras. IMHO the correct way to fix the current situation would be to keep the check boxes and rename Other Feature field to Detailed Information. That field should have unlimited amount of characters. In this model if the release would contain for example bonus trailers, commentary track, featurettes and music video, you would check all these boxes and in your own words describe them to Detailed Information field something like:

- Trailers: Goodfellows, Die Hard and Ice Age
- Commentary by John Doe and Jane Doe
- Making of documentary, 13min
- Screen tests for John Doe (4min) and Jane Doe (3min)
- Music Video by John Doe
and so on...

This would be VERY easy to implement. Only prorgram changes needed would be the field name change, unrestrict the amount of characters in that field and a rule change.

VERY simple and a huge improvement for current situation.

That is a great idea Kulju!
