Kant also defined the Categorical Imperative and I very much doubt that he'd approve af the behaviour you've shown on these forums in the past few years where 90% of your topic replies were either nonsensical or pure trolling.

And now you're being disrespectful by switching to a language most users here don't understand.

Ein jeder Mensch hat rechtmäßigen Anspruch auf Achtung von seinen Nebenmenschen, und wechselseitig ist er dazu auch gegen jeden anderen verbunden.

So you are going to purposely contribute against the rules.

And you seriously believe that he is going to contribute a profile.

You know, the same way that they now added the seasons to The X-Files Season 1-9 Blu-ray Collection (#4010232068101 and children).

Warning: German profiles (Cast may contain a bunch of uncredited people).

I begin to understand how the contribution evaluation system works: don't ask, just do it.

Well done, Duncan and Richi (Contribution comments: "Alternate Version, because the season boxes has no distinct ean/upc-code and the disc id ist for the disc profile.").

The bottom line is that some oldish users say that it is against The Rules, but Invelos approves it. Now, what should I do?

To be frank that is actually the sanest way to go. If the users of that particular profile are happy with the way it is, then everything is right with the world.

The only way this profile is going to interact with any other profile is maybe via the cast/crew lookup tool. Other than that it's actually an island, entire of itself.

For example, I bought the complete box set of Prison Break. The seasons are packaged in HD Keep Cases but (deliberately) do not have EANs.

(it's stamped "not to be sold individually")

Yet in the database they were season profiles using the DiscID of disc one. No disc profiles though.

Did I go into (what Wikipedia calls) an edit war over this? No I simply let the profiles as they were and created an alternate profile for the actual disc one and (by the rules) attached these IDs to the parent profile.

All voteable changes received no no-votes and all profiles are released. Now there's two profiles using the same DiscId living happily side-by-side.

This could have gone entirely different if I had insisted on (rightfully, I might add) overwriting the season profiles for the disc profiles. But who would I have helped with that? Being right for the sake of being right when there was a workable alternative?

No "No UPC, no profile." anymore?

Karsten is correct. While writing the rules this is something we went over and over in multiple threads. And when it came time for a decision from Ken he decided to go even stricter then any of us was fighting for and went with no UPC then no profile.

If it is true that Ken Cole is so strict with his "no UPC then no profile" rule, then why does he approve every contribution?

From the rules:
Quote:
Note: In cases where multiple complete TV seasons/series (each with distinct UPC/EAN) are packaged together, the Box-set rules are applied, treating each season/series like a single film - applying the above rules for its individual profile.

Base on that note, you can only create a season profile if it has a distinct UPC/EAN.

Are you saying that Invelos does not follow The Rules?

That's still the rule. And I will never create a profile against the rule. But I also have no interest in getting into a contribution skirmish over a profile that's already there.

The screeners don't always follow the rules, they usually go by votes (especially German screeners). Even Invelos contradicts their own rules in thread discussions that usually mess up the database, by solving 1 issue they usually end up creating more problems.

Just remember, rules can always be changed and they're meant to be broken.
