It's more than likely a matter of it burning itself out, I'm guessing...there's literally nobody that even touches the screen here.

After contacting Westinghouse and basically being told I'd have to send the TV in with no guarantee of repair (not worth the shipping cost), my wife and I have decided to just buy a new one in a couple of weeks. And this time we'll make sure we get a replacement plan. There's a 42" Westinghouse LCD that my dad just purchased that's really nice, and it's under $1000 @ Best Buy (which is the max I'm willing to pay at this point), so we'll likely get that.

Besides, it's getting worse. My wife can now notice it at any given point, and she's not usually one to notice minor things.

Ross:

Check out the Westinghouse, 42" I think that is 1080P, it's a little more money but well worth it in the long run.

No, that's actually the one I'm referring to. My dad purchased it three weeks ago...it's a beauty. 4 HDMI inputs, too, which means the HDMI switch I just purchased is now useless.

It's $989.99 at Best Buy...may pick it up today.

I had similar smudges on my CRT HD screen, wiping it seemed to reduce their appearance but didn't ge rid of them. I later tried using the microfiber cloth and it removed them completely.

I tried the microfiber as a last ditch resort, and nothing. No dice there.

Just got back with my new 42" Westinghouse. The old TV didn't support 1080p, so this is even better. Awesome stuff.

Thanks for the recommend, Skip!
