And if you select the one from the v3 database, that's one less you'll have to select from the v4 database.

To solve this kind of problem, I opened a second database only for headshots.

In my main database, I have only headshots for actors/crew that are at least in one profile. For that, you have just to repair the database and delete all unused (and uncheck the box preserve cast/crew).

But the problem is that if you add a new profile, with a new actor who had a headshot that was in V3 database, you've lost it.

In my second database, I have only one false profile, and all actors from V3. When I have one missing in my main, I just have to copy/paste without the need to compare all the others I have previously chosen.

Thanks for the info, this seems to be the best way to manage my collection.

So what exactly happens here when you repair and uncheck preserve cast/crew? I assumed it removed cast and crew not in any profile but it didnt do that for me as far as I can tell. I went to edit a profile and hit cast and on the left it still lists cast members Im sure are not in my database for instance a cast member named As Himself.

Am I doing something wrong?

When you leave the preserve cast/crew checkbox set, it'll keep any cast/crew member that has a headshot even if they are not assigned to a profile.  If you uncheck it, ALL cast/crew members not assigned to a profile is removed from the database.

*shrug*  I did a clean to remove all unused cast/crew but left the checkbox set for preserving people with photos and it removed 24.  I then repeated the process but unchecked the preserve cast/crew with photos and it took out over 10k in cast alone.

Do a filter by cast/crew you suspect are being left in the database even though they are unused to see if they really are not assigned to a profile.

well all be damned, I did what you suggested and low and behold the ones Ive checked so far are in profiles. I never would have thought.
so Im really not sure still what this is doing, "I did a clean to remove all unused cast/crew but left the checkbox set for preserving people with photos and it removed 24.  I then repeated the process but unchecked the preserve cast/crew with photos and it took out over 10k in cast alone."
The first will remove cast without photos, and the second removes cast with photos but no profiles. Is this correct?

The first remove cast without profile and without photos. It leaves cast without profile but with photo.
The second removes cast without profile but with photo

It's still on-going.  Haven't received any headshot db's to add.

I'd like to send you a backup of headshots I took from my own database, before I applied your V3.

I must be missing something obvious but I cannot find instructions for such uploads. (size is approx 5 MB).

Please let me know.

I was just wondering that last night and thinking about asking people if they have any updates to contribute to the master db.  I'm going out of town Wed-Sun so I can import any db's next week and put out a new one.

I have a new set of headshots I could contribute, but cleaning up correctly BYs makes this process longer and less tempting.  If I could get an easy list of BYs, it could ease this process.

I also have to check the list made prior to the accepted BYs thread because it contains a list of acceptable BYs not yet contributed to the database.
