TRON (Disney barebones edition) and Lost in Space (New Line SE in snapper) - 5 months before I had a DVD player, I had to watch them on my PC screen.

Before I bought a player I bought the Michael Keaton Batman and Blazing Saddles--either mid December 1997 or early January 1998.

Bought my first player in Feb. 1998, the Sony S3000, a great machine that's still going strong, for $600.

Mine was Trainspotting, and I didn't own a DVD player for about 2 years after I bought it!

I used to play my DVD's on my PS2 until I bought a Sony home cinema surround sound beast of a system in 2003.

MILLENNIUM, the Chris Christofferson/Cheryl Ladd flick based on John Varley's short story "Air Raid". Deserved greater success than it got.

Early purchase: THE ABYSS. Non-anamorphic WS. Shouldn't this have gone anamorphic by now?

Mine was "Assault on Precinct 13". I bought it in 1997. I just bought one to test it. I wanted to make my player codefree as there were no discs (except for one) available in Code 2.
Interestingly enought the Disc wasn't region Coded and played on my panasonic 350!

Question: Is there anyone who bought a DVD earlier than me? Mine was bought in November 1997!

I just saw the Abyss at Best Buy here for 5.95, and I checked to see if it was anamorphic for the same reason I suspect...  and it is.... Anamorphic that is...

But now I am waiting for it on Blu...

My first DVD was Starship Troopers. A friend of mine had pre-ordered it for me at DVDExpress.com (I think that was the name of the company). This has to be somewhere late in Q3, or early Q4, of 1997. I had just started my second year in university.
