In my travels while in the U.S. Army, I've had the pleasure to be stationed in Germany, and England. I have generally found nothing but people who for the most part like Americans, there have been times they were not fond of our elected politions, (who can blame them.   .) Speaking for myself I an rather fond of Europe and Europeans. I wish I could go back some day.

Rory

  @goblinsdoitall,

I understood your statement, and found no offence.

Good to hear that, I already thought that my English got a little rusty since 2004 (last stay in USA (Decatur, Il, where I am an Honorary Citizen since 1982))
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Naw, don't need no stinkin' gun.
I would really like to go back to Europe, espcially England and Germany. Been to London, Berlin and Munich (Just love Octoberfest. .)

@goblinsdoitall

Your English is at times better than mine and I was born here!

All I can say is thank GOD, we are still the U.S. and we still elect our OWN President and elected officials.

And here the person with the most votes can still lose!

And when you're the US government, you get to pick other country's presidents and elected officials too - whether the country wants you to or not!

There's a big difference between disagreeing with some of a country's policies and disliking that country and its people.

And I honestly think the vast majority of those who come across as disliking the U.S. are in actuality simply disagreeing with certain policies.

I know I'm one of those people. I'll be happy to admit to disagreeing with certain things the U.S. government does that has implications past its borders. But I'll also be happy to admit that Americans are generally damned good people.

Sure, one could argue that as a non-U.S. citizen it's not my place to disagree with the U.S. government, and you'd have a somewhat valid point. At the same time though, by virtue of being such a powerful nation and one that isn't afraid to put in its 2 cents anywhere in the world (be it diplomatically, militarily, financially, or otherwise) it is hard, as a citizen of the world, to not see how I shouldn't be allowed to speak up about it.

I don't know anyone here who would deny you the right "to speak up about it".

This is one of the many rights that we have and continue to fight for ... for everyone.

I do. In the second post of this thread, Lord Of The Sith said "Instead of making posts criticizing us I'd prefer you just said, "Thank you." and then shut your mouth."

First of all Paul I want to thank you for all of the red arrows it simply proves you are the type of person I thought you were.  Second I am in no way asking Europeans to remain silent about everything, just about making constant criticism against my county which I love and served.  One of the main reasons many Europeans would like to see the Democrats win is that many Europeans would like to see a weaker America.  This has been proven by polls done in Europe..  This is where my problem begins.  I do not presume to tell you how or who to elect in your country.  I did not jump up and down when the French sunk the Rainbow Warrior an unarmed vessel.  Or when other countries have committed other atrocities against their citizenry.  I am simply asking for the same courtesies.  I have traveled Europe and I love it there.  There are many fine people.  Even though many of them look at us as stupid.  So all of you can look at this as a great big pissing contest and feel that you have the rights to your opinion and I do not have rights.  That is fine.  Your opinion doesn't mean anything to me nor do your red arrows.  If you have an issue please be an adult and and face me.  Everyone jumps up and down about how we want the forums to be friendlier, nothing is more unfriendly than using a red arrow because you disagree with an opinion.  My two cents and I am not arguing this any further.

let's see;
  there are 300 million or so people in the US,
half of them can vote,  50%
half of them register to vote,  25%
half of them vote,  12.5%
and half and a little more elect our representative, 6.5%

so, 6.5% of the people elect the president.

yes, i know about the Electoral College.

Actually, the U.S. President is elected indirectly by The United States Electoral College .
