Mine is set to 1920 X 1200 on my Acer P241W

Nope, it's the same res I'm using as well, it's a very common res among 19" non-widescreen monitors.

Could someone with the 1680×1050 (widescreen) resolution post a screenie of your DVDP window?  I've been looking at getting a 22" monitor with this res to replace my TV (1360 * 768) and was wondering how it would look.

Here you go. I've made it a link rather than embedding the file due to the large size.

Edit: Of course, that's only one of many possible layouts.

Cheers Forget, thats certainly an improvement.  What size screen do you have and is that res readable on it?

This is the screen I'm looking at.
I've also just seen this one which has a (suspiciously) impressive contrast ratio but I don't think I'd be able to read the 1920*1080 res even on a 23" screen.

It's a 20" iMac and it's very readable to me.
