I so hope you get slammed for that. As I have said before, north, you simply cannot control yourself and were I Ken I would have banned you long ago, You simply do not how behave and engage in conversation without being insulting. Trust me, i have a few insulting names I could cal,l you in return but you aren't worth the effort.

"Arizona in America, at the end of the 1800s..."

Wow! Those Norwegian copywriters really know how to write taglines!

That's pretty much how the UK Blu-ray Overview starts -

Should we remove that saying that it's a tagline?

There is nothing in that paragraph that describes the plot of the film.

I guess a lot of overviews will have to be re-done in order to take out all paragraphs that don't describe the plot of the film...

Upon what basis, ken. You have not nor has Hal, addressed the points i have raised. It is physically separated from the Overview, it is also in a totally different size and typeface which makes it NOT connected to the overview and therefore not part of it.

It's funny, but I don't recall anything in the rules requiring that to be connected to the overview it has to be in the same size and typeface.  Maybe that's true in your opinion, but I can't find it in the rules.

Quote:
I am thrilled with your opinion and everyone else's and your personal attack as well. NOW back it up, I have backed up my opinion, which is far more than anyone else has done here.

You have backed up your opinion by repeating it with more opinion.  You have yet to show where in the rules it says anything about different type sizes or fonts being grounds to exclude text from the box cover.  The rules say to exclude:
Quote:
Taglines
Reviews (unless they are incorporated into the text of the overview on the case)
Extra features
Hyperlinks or other HTML
Line-break hyphens

If the translation from the Norwegian that most of us cannot read is accurate, show me where any of those exclusions apply.

Come up with a factual reason why, not your inventions. I have explainwed why it is not, explain why it IS. This goes for you as well, Tim. I am not interested in your unsupported OPINION.

No, what you have come up with is your own personal opinion which is only supported by your words and not by anything in the rules as written.  I don't understand why it is so hard for you to understand that what you want the rules to say isn't what they actually say.  And repetition of your opinions don't alter the fact that the rules do not support you in this instance.

Quote:
You guys are terrific with the personal insults and attacks, but you REASLLY, REALLY haye it when I bite back, because you have no defense for your opinion.

Since when is what I have said a "personal attack." You're the one who is quite willing to dish out insults but you don't seem very able to accept them without escalating thing.  If it makes you feel better to play the martyr and feel that people are personally attacking you (when what they are really doing is pointing out that your opinion is not consistent with the rules), go ahead and think that. But in reality, disagreeing with you is hardly a "personal attack" except to someone who suffers from paranoia.

That's not useful, Hal. There is nothing in that paragraph that describes the plot of the film. It gives two actors, the director and 2 Oscars. That says NOTHING about the content of the film.

So what if there is nothing in the paragraph that describes the plot of the film?  Where do the rules say that this is a requirement for an Overview?

That has no relevance to the other version. You will notice that paragraph is also NOT part of Blu-Ray, forget. So what, it's not relevant.

Wrong on all counts, Ken. FACT the paragraph is physically separated from the remainder of the cover, that is not an opinion. FACT the paragraph is written in a totally different typeface and size from the Actual summary, that also is NOT an opinion. Fact based upon your logic then there is a lot of data that we need to start including in the overview.

If you don't see the attacks even on your part, Ken, then there is areal problem here and it isn't paranoia, it's called a definitive lack of ability to communicate in any sort of polite..

My first post said, Ken

"That top poaragraph is NOT part of the Overview.  It is not related to it, it is a different size and font from the ACTUAL overview itself.

Now let me show you the first post which was offensive, I won't identify the user though you can figure it out

Yes, unfortunately you're rather well-known for removing absolutely valid parts off overviews.  Even though you succeed at times, you've mostly been wrong, and here again: this is neither a tagline nor a review, nor is it about extra features, so there's no reason to leave it out. Also, there is nothing in the rules about different fonts and sizes - that's just some kind of justification you've conjured up to support your personal preference.

So, @bentyman: I'd include it, if I were you. It's about the film, and there's nothing in the rules that says it should be left out.

This users cast aspersions and insults with his very first response.

The following i also find highly offensive in its tone.

Skip likes to pretend he's Professor Irwin Corey.

We know he isn't, but it's a fun imitation.

It was onl;y after thiose two insulting posts that i got ticked, Ken...and began to bite back. Up to that point I had said nothing which was insulting or offensive to anyone. As I have said many times, I will not attack unless i feel i have been attacked, and there's your proof.

Now all of you, since you aren't interested in anything more than a variety of ad hominem attacks. Talk amongst yourselves. If somebody would like to engage  in intelligent conversation for a CHANGE please I will be happy to.

I am frankl;y fed up with the BS of pointing the finger at me while completely ignoring the grossly ill-behavior of a handful of users who choose to derail so many threads with their insults.

And since no one has addressed the concerns which this thread has raised, then i guess we are to start entering credit block data and fine print as they are not disallowed by the Rules and the only cogent thiought i have seen is "it's relevant to the film" and so is that data.<shrugs>

Apologies for being slightly off post but I would be more concerned about a profile which carries Region B, and locality UK which shows a non UK cover (UPC - 7036988024724) than the issue being raised here.

I have an opinion but I will not express it on this issue but I would ask everybody to consider their posts with regard to the impact on any new visitors to the forums and the impression it gives that user to a) the program and b) the user base.

Discussions when they result in these sorts of post are not helpful to anybody.  It will not encourgage new users to even want to read the rules never mind contribute - and lets be honest contributions are something which the whole DB is reliant upon.  Behave like adults !! --- Sorry end of rant !

SECONDED! My apologies.

I sometimes am reninded of Marty McFly's reactions, tmb. I will repeat for your benefit however, I am loath to launch attacks unless attacked. I know I should probably simply ignore some of these people, but I also do not approve of the reputation system which is abused by these same users, I much prefer to deal with them on a man to man basis, I enjoy rational debate and conversation, but I will not tolerate the behavior of some of my ummmmmmm colleagues.

So, you still have't answered my question.

How many times have you seen a contribution where the contributor is trying to add the credit block or fine print from the bottom of the back cover?

Again I am not going to take sides but I think it is telling that the OP pretty much dropped out of this discussion on page 1 - they came here with a request for advice and the topic does not really offer any encouragement for this user to continue regarding these forums as a source of useful information which would be an injustice to the forums and the user comunity as a whole.. I am not attributing this to anybody - but I came to this topic late on if I was a new user reading this it would not have encouraged me to visit again or purchase the software.  maybe todays new user could become tomorrows best contributor ? Stay Happy and enjoy the DVDs whatever the overview says.

I agree tmb4016. I think the main problem is the lack of moderation here. That is not a complaint against Invelos. They are a small company and probably don't have the manpower to really cover the board. Also, they probably expect everyone to be able to self moderate. I've yet to see a forum where you don't get a small minority that want to spoil it for everyone else.
