We've always had a cat (occasionally two). When my cat had kittens (1982), my then girlfriend got one. A couple years later I had to move into a house which would not allow pets, so I gave my cat away to a family I knew from work. A year later I married the girlfrield, so I regained a cat which had been a kitten of mine, now named Yogure. Less than a year after we married (we just celebrated our 25th anniversary), we bought a new house ... new as in: just built. A couple of months after we moved in, Yogure disappeared. We searched the neighborhood for a few weeks, putting up flyers, etc., but to no avail. After a month, we figured he was gone, so we went to the ASPCA and found a six week old kitten, whom my daughter (from my first marriage) named Misty. Less than two days after we got Misty, Yogure returned, looking somewhat thin. We discovered that weeks before, as the rains came, the construction crews on the newer houses across the street had locked up the houses while they worked at a different site. Despite our calling around the area, if Yogure meowed back, we did not hear him. When the crews returned and unlocked the homes, out of one (a half block west of ours) came Yogure at full speed. They guessed he ate bugs and mice (our home is built on what was a cornfield) to stay alive. He ate well, and drank lots of water and quickly accepted Misty. She spent most of the day downstairs, he upstairs. One day, I received a call from the alarm company. I went home, the police were there. I unlocked, they searched the house. I found that whoever left last set the alarm forgot to disarm the interior motion sensor. Yogure was in the dining room. I explained to the cops that our upstairs cat went downstairs and set off the alarm. The police officers seemed to enjoy that possibility.

They are both gone now, but we have Flair, another ASPCA kitten (now in her middle age). If and when Flair leaves us, we will quickly add another cat into our life.

The hardest one, living room. Made the computer table so that it has only 2 legs, and is attached to the wall on other ends (Also all wires are hidden, apart from that phone cable. still not finished). Added sisal rope to the legs (well, leg ATM) and Ikea shelves to the walls to climb on. I'm not quite happy with the sisal rope legs (looks "out of place"). If i can find black sisal rope, i'll replace the uncolored ones
