What did Rebecca Gayheart ever do, besides hook up with Brett Ratner (and what could be worse than that really?)? Are we banned Sheen for coke or girls? I'm confused and it's hot out....
I don't know the full details but apparently Rebecca Gayheart knocked some kid over with her car. As for Charlie Sheen, how many of his wives/ex-wives haven't been beaten/threatened/etc....? |

| Posted: | | | | Up to tape 5 now, just listened to them all and they are pretty funny. I keep expecting Mel to just explode literally. I thought I used to go off, but man did I have nothing on this freakin' guy. Bravo! Even better is how level-headed the lady sounds during all these rants and attacks. This probably shouldn't be so funny, but with my nightmare relationships behind me, I can't help but think back, laugh and be happy for where I am now. |

I don't care about private life of people. If someone came to my home, burned it and beat the hell out of me before maybe I won't be as much interested in his/her works (I ain't even sure of that). When I watch a movie I watch actors playing a character not themselves. Must I stop watch Naked Gun because OJ Simpson is a killer or any music produced by Phil Spector because he is one also or Ferris Bueller because Jeffrey Jones had photographed 14 years-old naked kids? |

| Posted: | | | | What really stumps me here also is, how the tapes are released one by one, like the person doing so wants to create the best possible effect. I have not listened yet (probably will), but the way this comes along is dubious to me. So, yes, I don't particularly see how I am specifically supporting Mel by watching older movies. If I wanted to boycott him, I'd go against his new stuff, trying to make sure he doesn't get work anymore. If I don't watch the other stuff I am boycotting also the directors and other actors of the older films. EDIT: Just noticed: No, I did not watch Mad Max yesterday just to spite this thread | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | In general, I don't let behavior of stars, directors, etc influence my purchases of older or newer movies. The way I look at it is that a person can be a complete A-hole on a personal level while at the same time still be very competent and skilled professionally speaking.
Another point to take into consideration is that if I boycott movies because this or that person was involved in it, I also boycott a whole bunch of other people who were also involved in the making of that movie yet didn't do anything wrong necessarily or worse, had to put up with the bad behavior of the one I'm trying to boycott.
And finally, if a movie star goes overboard in the legal sense of the word, I expect the authorities to deal with that and don't feel I need to use my wallet to punish him and all the other ones involved in his or her movies.
So no, in general I don't let that stuff influence my movie buying behavior. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | I agree completely with Taro.
In addition I would like to say that I voted "Maybe" in the poll. Not because I have any doubt as to if I would let the phone recordings influence me, but because of the way the poll was worded. > Will you buy or watch anything that stars or was directed by Mel Gibson in the near future?
I have no immediate plans to buy or re-watch any of his movies. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | I try to look past their personal lives. So many of them are just completely out of touch. I'm sure there are many people here who, if I got to hear your view on something or got to see how you interacted with other on a personal level I may change my opinion about. We all have something about us someone else doesn't like.
I haven't listened to the recordings. Don't plan to. I guess I look at it like I'm better off not knowing.
I will admit to not watching someones works based on their political views and how hard the push them down your throat. Again, most big stars are completely out of touch with what 'normal' people do and our struggles. The last thing I want to see or hear is one of them preaching to me what is good or bad for me when they don't have a clue.
So as I say, better off just not knowing. If I had to rule out all of the movies where an actor did something I didn't agree with it would REALLY limit what I could watch! |
