Sure the single person which is credited with "Bauten" is the one who is responsible for building the sets aka "production designer" in Hollywood films. Quote: Edit: The online film dictionary says Art Direction for Bauten. "Art direction" and "production design" may be the same thing depending on the actual movie. In recent Hollywood films the "production designer" is the head of the "art directors". But in older movies the same person would have been credited as the single "art director". |

| Posted: | | | | I'm auditing a film with entirely Spanish credits, and the opening credits lists a Edición usually where the Editor credit appears (right before the DoP). Google Translate translates it to Edition. There's no Montaje ("Editor" in the translation table in this thread) in the credits. Is this a new word for Editor? | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! | | | Last edited: by huskersports |

German
Sound: Sound: - Ton (Normally the Production Sound Mixer is called just "Ton" which often leads to mixups.)
Production Sound Mixer: - Tonmeister - Originalton - Ton
Sound Editor: - Tonschnitt - Tonbearbeitung - Toncutter - Tonmontage
I spoke with one at "Studio Hamburg" i worked together with for almost 10 years within Production of "Die Rettungsflieger": If there are 2 credited as Ton then the first was Production Sound Mixerand the second Boom Operatormost times the second one is printed in smaller letters. |

Production Sound Mixer - Bruitage - Bruiteur
In my opinion this is totally wrong - a bruiteur is a foley artist and nothin else. In french credits the PSM (there is no french term for his job) is credited as "Son" (sound). It's the same as in the last post for german credits -> "Ton". | | | Si on n'a pas ce qu'on aime, on doit aimer, ce qu'on a ! | | | Last edited: by MickySpoon |

Production Sound Mixer - Bruitage - Bruiteur
A Frenchman would know this. Sorry, but the english of a frenchman is mostly as good as the french of an englishman. I am a professional translator of french to german for about 30 years. A bruiteur is responsable for the sound effects in the post production and that's NOT the job of the PSM but of the foley artist. There is a interesting video about the job of the bruiteur (in french - but you can see what he does - he is a foley artist) -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u892ah_NCyg A PSM is responsible for the recording of all the sound on set during the filmmaking and not for that what this guy do in the video. This big mistake in this posting is responsible for many wrong crew entries for french movies. | | | Si on n'a pas ce qu'on aime, on doit aimer, ce qu'on a ! | | | Last edited: by MickySpoon |

| Posted: | | | | No reactions? Is nobody interested in a correct database? There are pending contributions with wrong datas concerning this obvious misapprehension. Where is the threadstarter or the frenchman who made this mistake? Please help to stop wrong contributions. Until now, i have made 36867 accepted profile contributions to improve the database and i want to see an end. | | | Si on n'a pas ce qu'on aime, on doit aimer, ce qu'on a ! |

| Posted: | | | | Good correction.
I don't see too many profile contributions for foreign films, but I have used this thread as a reference a few times in translating credits. In my experience, the credits don't usually match up 100% with the translations in this thread, but it's still a good reference. Like anything, it can't be taken as gospel. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

| Posted: | | | | Please tell/show me where he said this. I remember him saying he had to walk a fine line between accuracy and ease of use... but don't remember ever seeing him say anything about wanting a consensus over correctness. I think you might be misunderstanding whatever post you seen this in. | | | Pete |
