My daughter and I saw it in simple 2D (I don't go to 3d very often .. it's like getting blueray for some old b&w movie and simply loved it.  It had all the Whedon magic.

The Point Break joke was hilarious!

The General in Blu-ray looks better than the pristine 16mm print I saw in film school. Only a recently pulled 35mm print looked any better. Blu-ray looks beautiful in B&W. Make sure your TV is calibrated to not have color hot spots.

^ I took my son to see it last night.  He thought it was fantastic.  I found it satisfying, but wouldn't go quite that far.  It is good to see the multi-film set up play out well where it could have become a mess.  The conflict and repartee amongst the (many) principals, whom by now we know very well, was very entertaining.

I had a hard time with the giant alien ships swimming through the air--it was cool to watch and menacing as anything, but difficult to swallow.

Stark's "heroic deed" at the end played out as very reminiscent of a certain summer blockbuster with aliens, but it was the right thing to do.  (Knowing he couldn't die took away from it, too.)

(Fury drew his sidearm because that's what he had left.    It didn't bother me.)
