Wrong. Not terminated. I am following the rules. Do you really expect every user to search the forums for this type of crap? If so, that's nearly as retarded as not paying your creditors on time. I expect you to follow the Rules and any subsequent remarks which are made by ken and gerri. Pretty arrogant for you to take the attitude that you don't care what they say. FFS, you don't understand my very very very valid point. There are reportedly 500,000 users. The contribution rules are there to be followed. I follow the rules then it gets declined because of an old forum post. DO YOU REALLY EXPECT 500,000 PEOPLE TO KNOW THIS POST EXISTS??? OK, you can point the person in the direction of this post, but USERS SHOULDN'T BE EXPECTING THIS CRAP IF THEY ARE FOLLOWING THE RULES. |

Amen to that! God forbid, you try and do a search anytime prior to 30 days ago. Times out every time. Completely useless. |

If STANDARD audio button is OK for audio tracks, why STANDARD subtitle button isn't OK for subtitles? Ken uses words either and OR (capitalized). The subject is NOT a standard subtitle button, kulju. itt is about nonmenu-selectablle subtitles. That means there is no standard button. I agree with Pete, Ken and gerri have given clarification...FOLLOW it. You piss and moan about wanting ken's input on any and EVERYTHING. And then when he provides you it, that's not good enough for you, is it any wonder the doesn't participate more. Were I him, I wouldn't either, why would I, there's always going to be a Sam orsomebody that says that's not good enough, he didn't do it the way I think he should have. I know , if I were Ken what I would be muttering under my breath, two words and i'll let you guess which two. AMAZING. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Yes, he should post clarification, but he should also update the rules so people KNOW. Jesus Christ on a cross, is it to much to ask for the rules to be updated so that we CAN follow them to how Ken wants us to? |

Quoting Ken Cole:
Quote: If the audio tracks are selectable from either the menu OR via the standard audio buttons on a standard player, they should be included as regular audio tracks. For the purposes of this, a "standard player" is one regionally coded to the profile's locality, set to the locality's default language.
If they are not selectable via either of the above options, next to determine is whether they are selectable through an alternate button press method or alternative player configuration (not via hardware changes). If so, enter them as an easter egg, with applicable instructions. If not, exclude them.
So as you can see a subtitle can indeed be an Easter Egg. And going by Ken's statement above I personally would vote no to any added subtitle that should be considered an easter egg by Ken's statement.
EDIT: Reading this over again... I don't know if Ken wanted it this way when he made this post... but this would also not include burnt in subtitles... as all he mentions is selectable subtitles... if not exclude them But your quote of Ken is about audio tracks, not subtitles. Or am I missing something here? I find it completely irrelevant whether the subtitles (written text transcribing the dialogue for the main feature of the film, for the entire duration of that feature) are selectable from the menus or if they are forced. Forced subtitles are not part of the film, they are added there afterwards by the DVD/Blu-ray distributor and are not part of the feature film itself any more than menu selectable subtitles are. I understand the opinion, that you shouldn't include those subtitles that are only accessible by changing the language settings of your player from what is common in your locality. If Ken has mentioned specifically menu selectability as a criterion, I very much believe that it has been only in comparison to those "more hidden" subtitles. I just can't believe that excluding regular forced subtitles (similar to normal subtitles, you just can't switch them off) was what has been meant. IMO that would be totally absurd. I hope he or Gerri clarifies this further. The information people look for when checking whether some particular release has subtitles or not, is if they can (better) understand the movie as far as language goes. "Hiding" this information in online database, and denying contributing the info, just for the reason that you can't switch off the subtitles makes absolutely no sense. | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. OK, you can point the person in the direction of this post, but USERS SHOULDN'T BE EXPECTING THIS CRAP IF THEY ARE FOLLOWING THE RULES. I explained it ONCE for you Sam, let me make it easy for you. 1) You make a contribution of this nature 2) It gets No votes and declined. 3) You don't understand, you followed the rules....you thought 4) You come her and ask, and it gets explained to you 5) Now you know better, hopefully. OK, you can point the person in the direction of this post, but USERS SHOULDN'T BE EXPECTING THIS CRAP IF THEY ARE FOLLOWING THE RULES. As I said... I would love to see every clarification make it into the rules instantly. Just as I am sure every other user would. But basically it is what it is... and if I know of a clarification to the rules I will always contribute using them... and vote per them. If there is a clarification I don't know about... and it is pointed out to me... I will thank the person for pointing it out to me. It really is as simple as that. I never search the forum before hand. I follow the rules and watch the votes and the acceptance/decline status. and go from there. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Let me explain it to you.
1) Ken amends the rules with the same thing he posted in the forum when he posts it. It takes him 14 seconds. 2) I submit. 3) It's accepted. 4) I don't have to ask for clarification, search forums, resubmit, wait another 3-5 days and use that time to submit other stuff.

Got to admit Pete, I think he's right. Your quoted section discusses audio tracks, not subtitles. |

I might agree with you fundamentally about updating the Rules, but having been around here for ten years, ken doesn't work that way, and no matter how much you bitch about it, it is not going to change a thing. He and Gerri made a PUBLIC clarifying statement, you are now aware of it. Like I said, game over, subject terminated. Your going on about it changes NOTHING, except maybe to exacerbate an ulcer if you have one. They will update the rules on their timetable not ours. I expect you to follow the Rules and any such statements made by ken and Gerri, and smile about it. Sheesh. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Basically... even though I would like to see updates regularly with every clarification. This is how it has been done since the rules first came out... way back at Intervocative even. So I don't see that changing now.
All we can do is choose whether or not it is worth contributing as it is set up here... that is up to each individual. But to think that you will follow only what the rules say and ignore any clarification from Ken/Gerri here in the foruim is basically just a good way to get no votes and declines. | | | Pete |
