Distributor is actually in the first beta - the above list is not the official release notes and has some holes.

Missed from my earlier notes:
- Added bold/italic to overview.

So there were two holes? Anyway, it looks like you're saving the best for last.

That's what I thought, too.

I wonder how all those folks that spent the past several months inserting tick marks feel now.

The profile list can now be filtered by Overviews containing tick marks to see which ones need editing

No, not every overview containing tick marks needs editing.

Funny that with all the additions (distributor, Blu-ray regions, Disc ID, custom genres) the one that people are excited about is the italic option in the overview.

We are a very strange group of people!

Have you ever talked to other people about DVDprofiler and entering its data? Did they look at you like you were out of your mind?

Once again, we are a very strange group of people!

At _this point_ I have to say that I'm little disappointed too. I hope that Ken has some unrevealed features in he's "sleeve". Unicode support would have been nice and possibility to profile two movies on a same side of the disc in a separate profiles.

I like the...

- Revamped locality and rating system to support unlimited ratings, age values per rating, and multiple rating systems per locality
- Added support for Disc ID reading from Blu-ray and HD DVD
- Added support for Blu-ray region coding (A, B, C)
- Significant enhancements to cast/crew editing, including appending via copy/paste, and copying by section (divider)
- Added configurable storage of all user files (Reports, Layouts, Translations, etc) via Tools->Options
- Distributor field

all very nice features indeed...

Ken,

Can we expect some rules updates to go with the new version?

LOL... actually there is a few things I am excited about... not ones that you mention though. I am just thrilled my top 2 wishes from the wish thread made it into the first beta! those were...

- TV Show Ratings (for those of us that has a separate rating system for TV Shows)
- Bold & Italics for Overview (had to replace those awful looking ticks that told us very little)

But from the list I am also really excited about...

- New mini-preview in the Add by Title window (just for convenience)
- New fields, including rating details (e.g. "Rated R for some violent scenes")
- Significant enhancements to cast/crew editing, including appending via copy/paste, and copying by section (divider)
- Added support for custom cast/crew photos on a per-profile basis.
- Added photo gallery for each profile, with thumbnail and slideshow capability.
- Program startup performance improved. (Always a good thing!)

In my opinion at least... this is looking to be a great first beta! I really can't wait to play with it!

I sure hope so! It would not be pretty if we end up with overviews like...

13 Ghosts Overview:
'It's 13 GHOSTS', a ghoulish fright-fest from producer/director William Castle. When an eccentric uncle wills a huge, ramshackle house to Cyrus (Donald Woods) and his impoverished family, they get the shock of a lifetime. Their new residence comes complete with a spooky housekeeper, Elaine (Margaret Hamilton), plus a fortune in buried treasure and 12 horrifying ghosts. As the terrified family soon discovers, these haunting ectoplasms include a decapitated man, a wailing lady and a flaming skeleton, who are held captive in the eerie house and must find an unlucky 13th to free them! Who'll be the final victim of these ghostly shenanigans?
'See for yourself-if you dare!'

Have it in bold and ticks showing for bold per rules!

Not every overview that needs editing contains tick marks!

So it's more a guidelines than a rule...

I assume it was obvious I was being sarcastic; however, I also want to say that I liked the tick marks while they lasted!

That really is one of my top favorites as well... especially with as many TV Series profiles I work on! Things will get much easier!

Yikes, that hadn't even occurred to me.  That would be ugly.

I was thinking more of overviews where the first word (or even the first letter) is a completely different font or size than the rest of the overview.  People generally ignore these distinctions, which is good.  i fear people trying to differentiate these now using the bold/italics.

I really wouldn't be to worried about the first letter thing... as that is different then what the bold/italics will do. I think that would be able to be voted down either way.

but he definitely needs to take the single quote rule out. Maybe replace it with use bold and italic only for words that are bold and/or italic in the overview.

if he put it that way it would take care of both problems as a single letter wouldn't be a word.
