Skip Then why come in the forum with this issue? I don't understand. You have always maintained a close relationship with Ken apparently, so why not take this issue directly up with him via PM/email? You, of all people, should realise that if you post something in the forum then people will chime in their their thoughts/opinions. |

| Posted: | | | | Does the program, in general, care about capitalization? (at least as far as updates go)
If I am not mistaken....
If I have DeVito in my local, and somebody updates a profile to Devito, it will not change what is in my local, even if I accept the update.
If this is true, then what happens in the online, as far as capitalization, would make no difference.(unless that name was not in your local)
Am I mistaken?

At Hal "If you were, you would enter it as "Danny DeVito [DANNY DEVITO]"
No Hal, the system was designed to standard caps as you know, so DANNY DEVITO is Danny Devito. How ridiculous.
Skip Sorry, Skip, but that's not correct. The "standard capitalization" part of the Rule has to do with how we enter names in the ACTOR LIST, not in the "As Credited" field! Technically, "As Credited" means just that.....AS CREDITED. What you want to do is morph the two parts of the Rules, "standard capitalization" and "As Credited" into a single method, when in fact, "As Credited" precludes "standard capitalization". For "As credited", Ken needs to add verbiage stating that "standard capitalization" is to be applied to them as well. | | | Hal |

Charlie You are not mistaken. That is, in fact how it works. I have done extensive testing on this. That being said, if you have DeVito [Devito] or Devito [DeVito], no matter what you download, the 'credited as' entry will be removed. Whether or not Ken considers this an issue that needs fixing, only he can say. In my opinion, as someone who deviates from the norm on more than a few profiles, that is what locks are for. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Skip I think you missed the point. Nobody said you should leave the forums. What they said was, if you want input from Ken and only Ken, you should send him a PM. If, however, you are going to post your concerns in the forums, you have to expect that the users of the forum are going to respond. As I have noted, martian my response was a direct response to concerns i have over an issue Ken raised, it needs clarification for all of us. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! There's too much of Skip bashing and insulting in this thread. He should knock it off. Since capitalization doesn't really affect anything, each person should enter whatever they think is right. If a profile has "Danny Devito" and you think it shoudl be "Danny DeVito," downloading the profile doesn't actually affect anything in your DB, so why worry about it? | | | Last edited: by Ace_of_Sevens |

Skip I understand that but, as you often answer question and concerns posed by users, other users are going to do the same when you post questions or concerns...whether you want them to or not. Such is the nature of a public forum. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. If a profile has "Danny Devito" and you think it shoudl be "Danny DeVito," downloading the profile doesn't actually affect anything in your DB, so why worry about it? Because, as I noted above, if you do like Skip and T!M, and use 'credited as' to track what you believe the actual credit is, downloading the profile does have an adverse effect on your your DB...mainly, erasing your 'credited as' entry. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. This is always the case for local data where you want to use different standards than the main DB, though. You just have to lock. |
