so I tried all that and with profiler still open when trying to install the plugin for awards it errors saying its already running so there seems to be some remnants  somewhere.

In this case, the remnant is dvdpro.exe.

64 bit Windows has always supported running 32 bit programs. (There is no 64 bit version of DVDProfiler).

For the third time you are getting that install error because profiler itself is running.

We haven't heard back from the other users that reported that it was fixed. Is everyone still having the problem? I recall there was a common problem with layouts corruption that does have a fix. You might try searching the forum.

I can reproduce it, that when my CCVPlugin is enabled, this error comes at shutdown. I tried again to find out why. But I cannot see any problem in the code of my plugin. The error comes from DVD Profiler, after the plugin's "Unload" method has already finished executing.
This error started coming either with "Windows 10" or with DVD Profiler 4. I don't remember which of those two.
I am open for hints. If a plugin developer wants to take a look at my code, PM me.

Oh, I am just seeing this.  Let me read carefully and go from there.

Well of course, I am happy to take a look. Problems that come at shutdown are usually due to incorrect cleanup of resources, such as orphan background threads, and especially if you have not disposed of menu objects and host windows in the plugin Unload method.

New version: 4.0

Fix: Crash on unload (thanks to mediadogg for a hint on this)
Fix: Compact database if database gets too huge during DVD Profiler XML import

I hope the issue is now solved. On my side it looks okay now.

Some worries I don't understand so much...
Well, with my old computer I had to avoid add ons and tools, but now with a new machine I was hot on the Awards-Tool.

And got shocked!

Was this planned that the year of the Academy Awards is always -1 to the year they were given?

I respect the huge load of time spent to get all the data, but I am confused, when e. g. "Camelot" who got some Oscars in 1968 is listed in the database for all of them with "1967"

The very inital award data was started by someone else for another tool. There it was started like this.
Also if you look for example on Wikipedia, it says for this year's Academy Awards: Award ceremony for films of 2024

It is at least the plan to honor the films of the time since the last cerenomy, but at least for those from different years it only works, if I change the profile of the movie to the "wrong" year or add the award myself to the database.

Example "Voyna i mir" (Krieg und Frieden), the russian 4-partner of 1965. Got an Oscar in 1969 and is in the database for '68... without a change of the awards-data or the profile I don't see the Oscar there

Academy Award nominations are based on the year the movie was released in the United States, not on its original release. So for "Voyna i mir" (War and Peace) this was 1968.

I have looked at two other lists of Academy Awards, and they both list 1968 for Bondarchuk's film.

The back of the English language Ruscico release that I have says "Mosfilm, 1965-1967" . This seems to have caused some confusion. Of the 32 profiles for War and Peace, five have 1967 as production year. The Criterion releases (both DVD and Bluray) state 1966-1967 on the back cover. The Bluray is listed as 1965, the DVD as 1966. All others have 1965 (including mine). Thankfully, none have 1968.
My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users.
