Anyone have experience with the Pioneer XD07UHD? Looking to get it solely for DVD Profiler as my laptop won't have the graphic firepower to play 4K resolution. Found it for an okay price but thought would ask here before buying. |

For your specified needs, the minimum requirements for your laptop are Windows 7 or later and available USB 3.0/2.0 port. |

At least, that what I've gathered from the LibreDrive forum... You are basically correct, but all manufacturers have changed their firmware to make it harder to read 4k disks. This is to stop 'ripping' of the disks. Workaround is to downgrade firmware to a UHD 'friendly' version. There is plenty of talk on this on the interwebs. Best place to go is the MakeMKV site and browse the forums, where there are also links to get the correct firmware and how to flash. |

You are right, I have 'trashed' a couple of drives in the past. Now I have 4x UHD friendly drives so covered for a while. Only annoying thing is that if you put a 4k disk in the drive and do not do anything for several minutes, the drive 'sleeps' and when you try to access the disk all you get is nothing. Need to pop the disk and redo. |

Depends on the drive also... I have four BD-drives, only one of them is supported by LibreDrive. I haven't tried a 4K disc yet (as I don't own any), but the original intent of LibreDrive - removing riplock - works fine. | | | | The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. | | Posted: | | | | DVDFab sells a UHD Drive Tool that will downgrade the UHD-Unfriendly Firmware and present you a backup-friendly UHD drive. I purchased the product because I have 3 PC-s and I was converting about 2400 movies on blu-ray and 4K discs to a Zappiti Nas using the ISO format. I haven't even started yet with my TV series. |
