| Posted: | | | | I was looking around in the lock-section to cast a vote to lock the covers for one of my DVDs - that's locking it in the online database, not (just) in my local... But I can't seem to find it... Did Ken forget to do this? | | | The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. (William Gibson) |

That's fine, but what if somebody else wants to submit an improved version? Once six or more locks are set it can be difficult to find people to unlock them again, especially if they no longer use the program or visit the forums. At least with the data it's easier to say that it's set and correct and not going to change (subject to Ken improving the program). In many ways I think the voting negates most of the need for locking online data anyway. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | Am I missing something here? Are you saying that if six or more people lock an image that improved versions of the image cannot be submitted for download? If anything like that is the case, then IMHO that's a problem with the app & needs to be fixed. | | | Cogito, Ergo Sum Pioneer Elite PRO PDP-111FD - 2/28/2009 |

Go to the database section of this site and click on View/Edit Locks. These are the locks that do lock the info and keep it from being updated. As was pointed out, when 6 locks are present you cannot change the info online unless you get some people to unlock the info. This is a completely separate set of locks from your personal Db locks (geez - did I say the word "lock" enough ) |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not sure why anyone would vote to lock an image that is supposed to be available to everyone. I certainly would not do it. I'll only lock images in my own software that are alternate versions of the original cover art. | | | Cogito, Ergo Sum Pioneer Elite PRO PDP-111FD - 2/28/2009 |

If anything like that is the case, then IMHO that's a problem with the app & needs to be fixed. It's not currently the case for images, but it's what Rander was asking about. The idea behind the locks is to stop bad 'data' overwriting good 'data', so makes some sense when talking about info relating to the film or DVD release, but not so much on images as others have said it's too subjective. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | It seems to me, & makes sense to me, that the designer of the software should leave himself a "backdoor" to unlock these "bad" locks. If I were the designer, I would leave myself the "backdoor". | | | Cogito, Ergo Sum Pioneer Elite PRO PDP-111FD - 2/28/2009 |

| Posted: | | | | Ken can and has cleared locks where it was clear they were being abused in the past. The problem is he has to be sure that it's right to unlock something. If he doesn't own the title that can make it a grey area. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |
