I've been using Movie Collector by collectorz.com for a little while before I stumbled across DVD Profiler. I really like how easy DVD Profiler is to use, so I'm considering switching over. However, there is one feature of Movie Collector that I find indispensible - Export to web. Movie Collector can generate a web hierarchy that can be deposited into your personal web site. You can see an example here:

I see that DVD Profiler has a rich report customization feature, but I couldn't find any way to generate web pages. Is that feature available?
Thanks,
David
Perhaps I can be of assistance. I've been a longtime Collectorz user (still uses their Comic Collector as well as Movie Collector for most of my Japanese DVD's as I've yet to input them into DVD).
Anyway, I also used to use Movie Collector's export to HTML feature to generate static HTML listings of my collection. I still have my old list up here (see my signature for link).
Personally, I would strongly recommend going with phpdvdprofiler. It's a free script and takes a little bit of time setting up at first (you need to configure the online database and so on). However, once that's done, the advantages over Movie Collector's HTML export are:
- dynamic pages: you can filter, search, etc online (unlike static HTML pages)
- when updating you don't need to generate entire pages: just export your DVDP collection to XML and upload that to your website. One click and the data is imported into the online database
- when using FTP client like Filezilla, you can upload only covers that have been added/changed (so that saves both time and bandwidth).
Only thing to take note of is that unlike for HTML pages, you'll need a server that has a Mysql database and PHP installed.
Personally, I'm happy to have made the switch all things considered. Sure, as you'll notice in these forums, there are still things we'd all like to see improved in future versions, but what's here already, in my opinion, trumps other similar software.
You can compare the online exports in my links (DVD = Movie Collector, Blu-ray = phpdvdmyprofiler). If you like to try everything before purchasing, you can download DVDP, enter a small collection in it, install the free phpdvdprofiler script (on a free php server, just to give it a try) and that'll give you a good idea.
Please note also that Invelos is currently working on an improved version of the online aspect of DVDP, which I believe will be called DVDPO+, but there's not release date set for the time being.
PS: Stud Muffin, nice summary you wrote of the possible options available!
