It seems to me that 3 studios just aren't enough.

You have theatrical release studios, production studios and then the DVD Distribution company/studio.

With some films having more than 2 major studios producing it and then more co-producing studios there just isn't enough room to include them all. It hinders the ability to cross-reference them to the films they released/ produced.

I don't know how to really solve it, but here is some ideas.

1. Expand the # of available studios from 3 to maybe 5 or so.

2. Have seperate fields for each type of studio. 1 for Theatrical release studio(s), the other for co-producing studios and the final for the DVD Distributor. Perhaps allow 3 entries for each.


Any other ideas? Or do you think 3 entries is enough for each DVD?

I'd like to have seperate fields for theatrical release, production and distribution studios as well.

Especially the distribution studio is of interest to me, since they are the ones deciding on copy-protection. There have been numerous examples in the past months of DVDs not running on computers or stand-alone players due to rigid copy protection mechanisms. I'd like to know if the DVD has possible issues before putting it into a PC, preferably at someone else's place, ruining the evening.

Currently, on a lot of titles, the distribution studios are not profiled due to the space limitation.

I'd advocate one slot for theatrical release, two for production and one for distribution. If there's more than one (two) possible entries, take the order of the credits, i. e. first come first serve (first shown first entered).

Agree, excepted I would expand the DVD release field to 3, since there are occasional "sub-labels" from companies.
